Prior to becoming an RTO they were delivering training under an auspice arrangement with BRIT. This auspice arrangement did not provide a lot of support and began to falter. The Board of Management decided that they would register as an RTO in their own right. In the initial year of registration the RTO delivered only fee for service training in the Certificate II in Equine Studies. They were offered a contract with HESG 4 years ago. They have also developed a close relationship with Harness Racing Victoria and provide training to their employees and members. Harness Racing Victoria regulate jockeys in the industry. The RTO now has trainees and apprentices locally and with Racing Victoria and Flemington. They also have a 3 year contract for funding. While they still have the Certificate II in Equine Studies on their scope they are not delivering this at present, due to the funding cuts to schools.
