2 Sample Position Description (Note: In order to keep confidentiality, System is used to replace the specific system name, unless otherwise noted.) I. Position Function: The upholds the mission and philosophy of the System: The Director provides leadership in promoting and integrating the mission, vision and core values throughout the entity. The Director works with the Board, Administration and Staff in all departments to ensure our is the focal point for decision making and to deepen an understanding of our mission and how it affects the climate and daily practices of the workplace. The facilitates the Committee and is a resource to the employees in mission service projects. The Director ensures a mission focus in new employee orientation, and supports the integration of mission and values through behaviors and attitudes in the workplace. II. Job Relationships: To foster an interdisciplinary approach which seeks to collaborate as a team with medical and professional staff of the hospital, in providing a quality and values process. Collaborates with the following: Employees Administration Medical Staff Senior Vice President of Serves in a consultative role with the following: & Values Committee Reports to: President/CEO of the /Senior Vice President of III. Authority: Has the authority to develop collaborative programs within the System.

3 IV. A. Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Serves as a member of the Senior Leadership Team Integrates & Values into the organization s primary functions. Promotes the & Core Values of System. Represents to other departments and to hospital administration. Participates in committees of the hospital as requested. Communicates a management style marked by compassion, accountability, respect and excellence. Provides appropriate effectiveness programs for hospital personnel as indicated. Assumes leadership in continuing staff development in regard to hospital mission awareness and quality effectiveness issues and procedures. Demonstrates ability to collaborate with staff within the department and with the staff throughout the hospital at large. Designs objectives and the development of strategies to accomplish the mission objectives of the System. Is sensitive to and relates with persons of all faith denominations. Oversees the ministry of the Spiritual Care Department. Performs other duties as directed in cooperation with the President/CEO and Senior Vice President for. Responsibilities/Non Essential Functions: Performs related duties as necessary. V. Reporting Requirements: Develops and presents written reports on behalf of. Reports to the President/CEO and Senior Vice President of regarding the ongoing status of Effectiveness and whenever issues or situations require attention. Collaborates with Senior Vice President of Develops and presents the written annual report of the goals and objectives of the Department which serves as the Provisional Service Plan for the coming year to the President/CEO.

4 Professional Development: Maintain a solid foundation in theology. Maintain a strong pastoral identity. Maintain a strong commitment to professional standards, especially confidentiality. Maintain physical and emotional resources needed to thrive under stress. Develop and maintain good management skills. Represent at System events and meetings. VI. Accountabilty: Shall be accountable for maintaining the confidentiality and security of all hospital related, patient related data and information. Shall be accountable for abiding by all relevant hospital policies and procedures. VII. Qualifications: Minimum Education: Master s degree in one of the following: Divinity Theology Pastoral Ministry or Pastoral Counseling Minimum Experience: 5 years experience in and/or Ministry Minimum Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of and support for the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Facilities. (USCCB 2005) Demonstrate administrative ability in planning and organizing so as to effectively supervise and implement mission effectiveness goals. Ability to relate to persons of diverse faith traditions and/or no traditions. Training: Special Qualifications:
