The following information answers the most commonly asked questions. 2 INTRODUCING SUCCESSMATTERS 1. What is SuccessMatters? SuccessMatters is a business tool specifically designed to help our organization ensure associates are working on what matters most to drive the organizational strategy and deliver against business results What are the benefits of an online system? Align the organization s strategies to your goals and objectives Be Green...Create your S.M.A.R.T. goals, development plan and performance appraisal online Enhance two way communication with your manager Track progress towards personal success while completing your development plan Realize even better team efficiency Is my information secure? Yes, your information and data is secure. Only authorized managers and HR professionals have access to the information and data. notes and passwords are encrypted to provide additional security. Who can see my data? Your manager/supervisor and second level manager can view all of your public or private goals. All associates can view your public goals (not developmental goals), but not the status or comments associated with them. HR will have access to all information. We are creating transparency with confidentiality. Who should use this business tool? All associates should use the system to set goals and track their progress towards meeting business objectives. We each do our part to achieve our company s goals. Managers and supervisors will use the system to conduct mid-year and year-end performance reviews and to track team progress through reporting. Is this new process going to save time? Yes, SuccessMatters is designed to streamline alignment to the strategy, ensure associates are aware of their goals along with how they fit into the bigger picture, and will save approximately four hours over the course of the year on the performance and development processes. 3 SUCCESSMATTERS BASICS 7. How do I log in? When you log in for the first time, you will input your WWID# and click on the Forgot Your Password button. A password will be sent to your . You can then log into the system using your WWID# and the temporary password. You can change your password at any time How do I change my password? In SuccessMatters, you can change your password at any time. To change your password you will click on the Options button on your Home page. For detailed step-by-step instructions, please use the Changing Your Password Tutorial on your SuccessMatters Home page. What happens if I forget my password? If you forget your password, you can access it by clicking on the Forgot Your Password link on the log in screen. A password will be ed to you. If you do not have an address, you must contact your local HR representative to reset your password. If you are located in North America, please contact the Employee Service Center (ESC) at Where do I get help? Is there training available? There are several training options available. The system is very easy to learn and you can use the online tutorials, online help, and Quick Reference Guides found under Help and Tutorials in the system. Other training sessions will be available by location. Page 3

4 GOAL MANAGEMENT QUESTIONS 11. What is a cascading goal? When your manager cascades a goal, he or she adds one of his or her goals to your plan to align your activities with theirs. A cascaded goal may be edited to be more meaningful for an associate. The cascaded goal will appear in both the manager s and the associate s Goal Plan. For detailed step-by-step instructions, please use the Cascading Goals Tutorial on your SuccessMatters Goals page What is a S.M.A.R.T. Goal? A goal written using S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-Bound) guidelines ensures that the goal is both achievable and measurable. For detailed step-by-step instructions, please use the Getting Started on Goal Setting Tutorial on your SuccessMatters Goals page. How do I create new goals? There are multiple ways to create goals and add them to your goal plan. For detailed step-by-step instructions, please use the Goal Setting How To Guide on your SuccessMatters Goals page. Page 4

5 PERFORMANCE FORM QUESTIONS 14. What is Performance Review? The Performance Review Process enables associates and managers to continually enhance the talent and performance of the organization. This is an opportunity for associates and their managers to assess the progress made towards goals throughout the year. The organization and associate are mutual benefactors in the process. As associates upgrade their skills and performance, the overall organization performance and profitability increases When I complete a step, where does my form go? Forms requiring your attention will appear in the SuccessMatters Inbox. After you complete, update and route the form to your manager, the form is moved to the En Route folder, which stores copies of all the forms you ve worked on and sent to other people. The forms remain in the En Route folder until the next step is completed. This makes it easy for you to track the progress of any form because you can always see who currently has the form. The forms are read-only so you can not make changes to them, and you cannot see any changes made by the person who currently has the form. What is the difference between My Goal Plan and My Performance Form? The Goal Plan is a form used to plan your activities for the year. Once agreement has been reached between manager and associate, the goals are automatically transferred to the performance form. Here associates and managers will track and measure their performance against the goals. Where do I find my completed review form? Completed forms are available as a reference when evaluating performance and setting new objectives on future plans. Completed forms are located in the Complete Folder under the My Forms heading in the Performance Tab. Page 5

6 DEVELOPMENT PLANNING QUESTIONS 18. What is a competency? Competencies are the required performance skills for your position. These may include both core competencies to be exhibited and evaluated by every associate in the organization, and job-specific competencies that demonstrate the skills to be successful at your position What is Development Planning? Associate growth and development is critical to success in achieving goals. Development planning provides you and your manager a work area to outline development opportunities to advance your growth. What is a learning activity? A learning activity creates a path for you to meet your development goals with directly relevant knowledge sources, onsite and off. How do I register for a class that I found in the Course Catalog? To register for classes found in the Learning Catalog, go to the MyLearning link in the help & tutorials section to enter the MyLearning system. Using the title you found in SuccessMatters do a search to locate the class in MyLearning. Add the course to your plan in MyLearning. 22. How do I keep track of completion of MyLearning classes? Since MyLearning and SuccessMatters are currently not linked, please remember once you have completed the course in MyLearning to login to SuccessMatters to update your learning activity status.
