Fix it First Approach Over $600 million will be invested over the next six years just to resurface roads and maintain bridges.
Improving Reliable Trips for Drivers and Transit Patrons I-75 South I-85 North I-75 / I-575 North These three projects result in a 56 mile expansion of the network, which is the largest investment in the freeway network since the 1980s
Cost Effective Interchange Bottleneck Relief EXISTING PLANNED Reconfiguration as a diverging diamond interchange can usually be done at a fraction the cost of a full rebuild.
Improving Key Interchanges for Commuters and Freight Collector/distributor lanes on SR 400 north of I-285 Collector distributor lanes on I-75 in vicinity of I-285 Conversion of at-grade intersections on SR 316 to grade separated interchanges Reconstruction of I-20 East and Panola Road interchange New interchange at Poplar Road Reconstruction of I-285 interchanges at SR 155 and Bouldercrest Road
Strategic Expansion of the Arterial Network SR 92 current alignment Realignment avoids downtown congestion and eliminates circuitous route due to at-grade railroad crossing 80 construction projects 61 federal-aid 19 locally funded 145 miles 20 additional projects entering right-of-way acquisition SR 92, a key north/south thoroughfare on the west side of the region, will be realigned and widened to eliminate a major bottleneck in downtown Douglasville.
Minor Investments; Big Return on Investment The FY TIP continues the state s and region s commitment to a number of critical programs, such as TRIP Signal upgrades/timing ITS The entire annual cost of the Towing Recovery and Incentive Program (TRIP) can be recouped in the time and fuel savings from just one or two major incidents
Expanding Options Planning continues for making job centers of the region more accessible by transit, biking and walking. Studies to expand transit service to Cobb County, the I- 20 East corridor, Emory University, the SR 400 corridor, and within the City of Atlanta are ongoing.
Building on the Framework for the 2016 TIP/RTP Update Incorporate new counties within the urbanized area into the planning process Use data and analysis tools effectively and efficiently Continue to explore ways to increase revenue in order to expedite projects Adjust to changes in the economy, emerging growth and mobility trends, and technological innovations
