This confidence is supported by the DOA portion of our standard warranty policy which states that Johnson Controls/UPG will cover parts and labor on all parts if they fail within 30 days of start-up. In addition, Johnson Controls/ UPG will cover labor on compressors if they fail within 30 days of start-up. This DOA parts and labor policy is only valid if startup is performed per this checklist by a technician qualified by Johnson Controls/UPGon split system equipment. This warranty statement is in addition to all other warranties provided with the equipment and subject to all of the of the stated limitations. This equipment must be started by a Qualified Technician. In the event that communication with Johnson Controls/UPG is required regarding technical and/or warranty concerns, all parties to the discussion should have a copy of the equipment start-up sheet for reference. The start-up sheet must have been completed, dated and signed by a Qualified Technician to be valid. A copy of the original start-up sheet must be on file with the Technical Services Department. The Series 20 J**YC/YD are available with a large variety of custom variations and accessories available. Therefore, some variation in the startup procedure will exist depending upon the capacity, CV or VAV, control system type, special features and accessories installed. This start-up sheet covers all startup checks and points common to all equipment. In addition it covers essential startup checks and points for a number of common installation variations. Depending upon the particular unit you are starting not all sections of this startup sheet will apply. Complete those sections applicable and use the notes section to record any additional information pertinent to your particular installation. Warranty claims are to be made through the distributor from whom the equipment was purchased. QUALIFIED EQUIPMENT STARTUP The DOA warranty policy requires that the equipment must be inspected and started by a Factory Qualified Technician. The start-up sheet must be completed and signed by the Qualified Technician at the time of start-up. A copy of the completed start-up sheet should be kept on file by the distributor providing the equipment and a copy sent to: Johnson Controls/UPG Technical Services Department 5005 York Drive Norman, OK JCL-A-0311
2 SAFETY WARNINGS The inspections and recording of data outlined in this procedure are required for start-up of Johnson Controls/UPG's products. This is not a step-by-step instruction on how to perform these tasks. Industry recognized safety standards and practices must be observed at all times. General industry knowledge and experience are required to assure technician safety. It is the responsibility of the technician to assess all potential dangers and take all steps warranted to perform the work in a safe manner. By addressing those potential dangers, prior to beginning any work, the technician can perform the work in a safe manner with minimal risk of injury. Lethal voltages are present during some start-up checks. Extreme caution must be used at all times. Moving parts may be exposed during some startup checks. Extreme caution must be used at all times. DESIGN APPLICATION INFORMATION NOTE: Read and review this entire document before beginning any of the startup procedures. This information will be available from the specifying engineer who selected the equipment. If the system is a VAV system the CFM will be the airflow when the remote VAV boxes are in the full open position and the frequency drive is operating at 60 HZ. Do not proceed with the equipment start-up without the design CFM information.
