21 Nash equilibrium 21 John Nash A Nash equilibrium is an action profile a* with the property that no player i can do better by choosing an action different from a i *, given that every other player j adheres to a j *. A Nash equilibrium somehow corresponds to a steady state. There is no individual incentive to choose a different strategy. Hence, it embodies a stable social norm : if everyone else adheres to it, no individual wishes to deviate from it.

Ford needed to maintain a stable workforce, and Henry Ford (and his business partner James Couzens) provided it.
