7 The Most Popular Mobile Messaging App in Iran Telegram is the most popular mobile messaging app in Iran. It is estimated that more than 45 million Iranians are Telegram users *. On average 60% of the time which Iranians spend on Telegram is for entertainment purposes. Data shows that the Telegram Messenger now has 170,000 Persian channels, 11,000 of which have more than 5,000 members *. 10 Instagram Instagram is an online mobile photosharing site that allows its users to share pictures and videos either publicly or privately on the app, as well as through a variety of other social networking platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Flickr. Instagram was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, and launched in October 2010 as a free mobile app. The service rapidly gained popularity, with over 100 million active users as of April and over 300 million as of December The service was acquired by Facebook in April 2012 for approximately US$1 billion in cash and stock. In 2013, Instagram grew by 23%, while Facebook, as the parent company, only grew by 3%.

13 Iran s Telegram Registration Requirement for Members Channels Administrators of channels and similar services on social media which have 5,000 or more followers in Iran are obliged to register their identity validation with the Ministry of Culture form January Telecoms Minister Mahmoud Vaezi had said that the measure aims to stop the spread of fake news.

15 Telegram's New Audio Messaging Feature Blocked in Iran Iran has blocked access to a new free voicemessaging feature from the popular messaging app Telegram, just days after it was released in the country. Telegram completed rolling out its free encrypted voice calls to users globally. But in a statement on April 17, the company said mobile operators and home internet providers had begun blocking the new feature the previous day. Mahmoud Vaezi, Iran s Minister of Information and Telecommunications, told reporters that the block is a result of a judicial ruling issued to all phone operators, according to the semi-official Iranian Students News Agency.

16 Instagram lets you post up to 10 photos or videos as 1 swipeable carousel Instagram launched the ability to share a mix of up to 10 photos or videos as a single carousel post that friends can swipe through. You can think of them as Instagram albums that collect permanent photos or videos around a theme. Now when Instagram users go to post to the feed, they ll see a button for selecting multiple photos. Users can then edit up to 10 photos and videos individually or with a single filter on everything, chooe their order, and tag friends in each. A single caption and location, as well as likes and comments, will apply to the whole post.

17 Instagram on Android gets offline mode 80% of Instagram s users, 600 million users, are outside the US, so it needed a way to provide a better experience for users with limited network connectivity or no data plan. Recently, Instagram announced it s built support for using most of its features without Internet access. Much of this functionality is now available on Android, which is the preferred device type in the developing world. More will come in the following months, and Instagram tells me its exploring an ios version.

18 Instagram touts 700 million Users, 100 million added since December 2016 Instagram has become quite competitive lately with new features that take on Snapchat directly, and now the social network has shared that it has 700 million users which is a new milestone. 700 million number is up from 600 million in December Instagram also shared that it now sees 1 million monthly active advertisers on the platform (but still no ipad app) with new business booking features planned for the future.
