With our wide range of quality materials including, Stainless Steel, commercial and aerospace grade Aluminium Plate, and Industrial Engineering Plastics, we are able to service a diverse range of end users. Aluminium Extrusion Our range of extrusions includes channel, angle, tube, box, and tee section with round flat and square bars and a range of mouldings. We stock bespoke extrusions for many of our customers. Aluminium Tread Plate We stock tread plate in a variety of thicknesses from 2mm 9.5mm. Aluminium Plate We offer a fresh approach to our industry by providing an extensive range of commercial plate grades 5083 & 6082 all with a Next day delivery. In addition; Aerospace and motorsport Grade We provide grades such as 6061, 7075, 2014 & 2024, also with a Next day delivery. Tooling Plate The appropriate heat treatment of our tool plate is guaranteed minor residual stress and offers excellent dimensional stability and strength. Grades EN485-2 and 3 plus EN573-3.

7 Stainless steel welded tubes (European manufactured) stocked in both metric and imperial sizes. All our round tubes and box sections are offered in dull polish, bright polish and descaled finishes. Stainless steel bar As well as 3 & 4 metre lengths, SSA also stock a range of Stainless steel round bar to 6 metre lengths. Cutting capacity and general capabilities Two of our plate saws have capacity of 200mm thick and 4 metre long, these are supported by our bar and tube band saws which cut Stainless Steel and Aluminium up to 550mm diameter. Our guillotine cuts up to 8mm thick. We also have in-house a polythene coating line. Low workability rating and welded only by resistance process. Typically used for aircraft skins, cowls and structures Thought of as the aircraft alloy because of its strength, the alloy has fair corrosion resistance but good machinability. The alloy lends itself only to resistance welding. In the annealed state it has good workability but is only fair to poor in tempers. Typical end uses are aircraft skin, cowls, truck and aircraft Constitutes an ideal alternative to non heat treatable, high-strength material and stands out due to its suitability for anodic oxidisation. Such plate is mainly used in the mechanical engineering and transport industries, not to mention a wide range of applications in the electronics and semiconductor industries. Strength, weldability and excellent forming capacity in a T4 temper make the strip and sheet a versatile material for a diversity of uses. 26 Plastics We can offer a wide range of engineering plastics including High Performance plastics, in full lengths & cut to size pieces available in sheet and rod Nylon Available as standard nylon in types 6, 66 & 12. Excellent mechanical properties. It is chemically resistant to hydrocarbons, ketones and esters. Nylon is often used as bushes, bearings, pulleys and other wear parts in a wide range of industries. Mos2 filled grades are available for parts requiring higher wear resistance. Also available in glass filled 30%. Cast Nylon Cast nylon exhibits an excellent combination of bearing properties, toughness, strength and light weight. Stock shapes are available in an almost limitless size. Also available in oil filled, lubricant filled and heat stabilised. Acetal Copolymer This is a crystalline engineering plastic offering excellent mechanical and bearing properties plus dimensional stability, stiffness and low water absorption. It is resistant to hydrocarbons, ketones, esters, alkalis and hot water. It has excellent machining properties. Appropriate uses are bushings, rollers, pulleys and other OEM parts. Acetal Homopolymer This is also known by the trade name Delrin. This has low water absorption, superior creep resistance, tensile strength and fatigue endurance together with excellent chemical resistance to hydrocarbons, solvents and neutral chemicals. Excellent machining properties. Appropriate uses are wear surfaces in conveyors, bushings, fittings and other mechanical and electrical applications. Polycarbonate Polycarbonate is an amorphous engineering plastic offering toughness, clarity and high heat deflection temperatures. It is often used in the automotive, medical, food & electronic industries as a replacement for metal, glass or wood. Polyolefins Polyethylene & Polypropylene belong in this family. Moderate strength and chemically resistant. Water absorption - negligible. Generally used for wear strips, chopping blocks & liners. Acrylic Acrylic is a thermoplastic available Clear in rod and sheet. Available in a range of colours. Generally available in 3mm & 5mm sheet. Polyester Polyester is a semi-crystalline engineering thermos plastic exhibiting excellent wear properties, low water absorption and good mechanical properties. PVC PVC is the only general purpose plastic that allows free, wide and seamless adjustment of the required physical properties of products such as flexibility, elasticity, and impact resistance. Peek A high performance plastic with high operating temperature, excellent chemical resistance and superior mechanics and bearing properties. Unaffected by steam, common solvents and many chemicals. PTFE The lowest co efficient of friction of any plastic and can be used un lubricated. It has a temperature range of 250 deg c and has outstanding resistance to most chemicals.
