P420M HT High strength fine grined structurl steel, thermo-mechniclly rolled, for high temperture ppliction Specifiction DH-E52-D, edition April 2016 1 P420M HT is high strength thermomechniclly rolled fine grined structurl steel with minimum yield strength of 420 MP (61 ksi) in its delivered condition (referring to the lowest thickness rnge). P420M HT is preferentilly used for constructions within the steel nd cement industry nd constructions of instlltions, which require enhnced properties t elevted tempertures nd which hve to meet high sfety stndrds. Due to its chemicl composition nd its low crbon equivlent, this steel hs n excellent weldbility nd possesses high mechnicl properties t elevted tempertures. Product description Designtion nd rnge of ppliction P420M HT cn be delivered in two grdes: Bsic qulity (L2) with minimum impct vlues t -20 C Low temperture qulity (K4) with minimum impct vlues t -40 C This specifiction pplies to hevy pltes with thicknesses of 10 to 100 mm. Creep strin limit The following vlues for 1% creep strin re extrpolted vlues ccording to the Lrson Miller method. The vlues re bsed on tests with test durtion up to 33 000 hours. Temperture 1% creep strin limit [MP] for [ C] 10 4 h 10 5 h 400 380 330 410 369 312 420 355 293 430 339 274 440 323 253 450 305 231 460 287 208 470 267 184 480 247 159 490 226 133 500 204 106 510 180-520 156-530 131-540 105-550 78 - The indicted vlues re verge vlues with sctter bnd of ± 20% nd they re for informtion only. The strength vlues for 1% (plstic) creep strin given up to the elevted tempertures listed in the tble do not men tht the steels cn be used in continuous duty up to these tempertures. The governing fctor is the totl stressing during opertion. Where relevnt, the oxidtion conditions should lso be tken into ccount. Impct test on Chrpy-V-specimens P420M HT Bsic qulity L2 Low temperture qulity K4 Direction of specimens Minimum impct vlues KV 2 [J] t test temperture of -40 C -20 C longitudinl - 60 trnsverse (optionl) - (40) longitudinl 40 - trnsverse (optionl) (27) - The specified vlues re minimum vlues; they re the verge of 3 specimens, whereby the lowest individul vlue must not be less thn 70% of the specified minimum. P420M HT 3/6

Testing Tensile test, impct test in the longitudinl direction (optionl in trnsverse direction), nd on request tensile test t elevted tempertures, will be performed ccording to EN 10028. Unless otherwise greed, the test results re documented in certificte 3.1 in ccordnce with EN 10204. Identifiction of pltes Unless otherwise greed the mrking is crried out with low stress steel stmps with t lest the following informtion: Steel grde (e.g. P420M HT L2) Het number Number of mother plte nd individul plte Mnufcturer's symbol Authorized inspection representtive's sign Processing The entire processing nd ppliction techniques re of fundmentl importnce to the relibility of the products mde from this steel. The user should ensure tht his design, construction nd processing methods re ligned with the mteril, correspond to the stte-of-the-rt tht the fbrictor hs to comply with nd re suitble for the intended use. The customer is responsible for the selection of the mteril. The recommendtions in ccordnce with EN 1011-2 s well s recommendtions regrding job sfety in ccordnce with ntionl rules should be observed. Formbility P420M HT hs excellent cold forming properties. The only thing to note is tht cold forming t tempertures below 150 C leds to n increse of the hrdness nd decrese of the toughness. These chnges in mechnicl properties cn be prtilly recovered by subsequent stress relieving. In cse of higher cold forming rtios it is dvisble to consult the steel mnufcturer prior to plcing the order or to monitor the effect of cold forming. Regultions for pressure vessels limit cold forming, if no dditionl normlising or quenching nd tempering is performed. This demnd cn restrict the use of TMCP-steel for construction prts with high cold forming rte. P420M HT hs excellent forming properties up to temperture of 600 C. Forming t tempertures bove 600 C leds to chnges in the originl microstructure nd cnnot be recommended. It is impossible to reestblish the sme mteril properties tht hd been chieved during the originl mnufcture through further het tretment. P420M HT 4/6

Weldbility P420M HT hs n excellent weldbility if the generl technicl rules re observed (see SEW 088 or EN 1011). The risk of cold crcking is low which cn be concluded from the low vlues for Pcm nd CET. Hrdening of the het ffected zone is low. For wide rnge of welding prmeters excellent properties in the HAZ hve been reched. Het tretment The stress relieving is crried out between 530 nd 600 C followed by cooling in still ir. The totl holding time should not exceed 150 minutes, even if severl opertions re crried out. With holding times of more thn 90 minutes the lower limit of the temperture rnge should to be imed t. Flme strightening should be crried ccording to specil work instruction (see Technicl Informtion of Dillinger DI-MC - Structurl steels ). Tolernces Unless otherwise greed, the tolernces will be in ccordnce with EN 10029, with clss B for thickness. Surfce qulity Unless otherwise greed, the specifictions will be in ccordnce with EN 10163-2, clss B2. Generl note If specil requirements, which re not covered in this specifiction, re to be met by the steel due to its intended use or processing, these requirements re to be greed before plcing the order. The informtion in this specifiction is product description. This specifiction is updted t irregulr intervls. The current version is relevnt.
