16 & 17 OCT 2017 I KUALA LUMPUR ABOUT CORPORATE DIRECTORS ADVANCED PROGRAMME (CDAP) 2017 STRATEGY & RISKS This programme will provide the necessary knowledge and skills for the Company Directors to be able to provide inputs, make sound judgment and critical probing questions on matters related to company s strategy and risk oversight. The objective of this two day programme is to persuade boards of the need to take a good look at the way they manage their risks and suggest a framework and a clear set of actions which will greatly improve their effectiveness. The unifying theme is what we call inverse risk logic which helps the board focus on what really matters and make sure those matters (which we call critical vulnerabilities ) are truly well managed. This will not only assure you of a more successful organisation, but hopefully, also, a better night s sleep. PROGRAMME FRAMEWORK To suit the needs of Directors, the programme is specially designed with the inclusion of the following: Strategic planning and the business model The meaning of risk Inverse risk logic, viability and risk appetite Strategic Risk Governance Strategic Initiatives Strategic Operational Risks WHO WILL YOU MEET Chairpersons Non-executive directors Executive directors WHY YOU SHOULD BE WITH US Strategy Development and Monitoring: Required to assist with better understanding of the organisation s business model and strategy, the link between strategy and financial performance; how to assess the key vulnerabilities in the strategic plan and ensure there are the right contingencies in place in case things do not go according to plan. Risk Oversight: Understanding the board s role in not only identifying the critical vulnerabilities but also in satisfying itself as to their effective management within the board s specified risk appetite. The issues of people risk and the dangers of micro-management are covered here.
