POST TITLE : LINE MANAGER: Trainer/Assessor Head of Employer Engagement DATE: January 2016 Job Role Duties 1. To undertake the role of Trainer/Assessor as appropriate and provide support for learners on Vocational Programmes. 2. To carry out Assessor duties on employer premises and in College where necessary, in compliance with industry requirements and awarding body standards. 3. To function as a Trainer within practical working environments where required and produce the highest quality session and action plans, learning and assessment materials and most appropriate resources to support learning and assessment. 4. To guide and support learners in the effective pursuit of their individual learning programme and progression planning, ensuring timely achievements are met, including retention and achievement targets. 5. To liaise with the Head of Department regarding further training opportunities arising from, or identified through, assessment and trainer activities. 6. To undertake initial assessment, complete enrolment information, advice and guidance following guidelines provided by the College, and linking to appropriate qualification. 7. To develop and expand a caseload of candidates in line with the College s strategic priorities, identifying new opportunities to the Team Leader. 8. Gain feedback from employers and learners through apprentice focus groups, surveys and verbal feedback, as appropriate and contribute to course evaluation. 9. To undertake assessment in accordance with course evidence specifications and requirements, maintain accurate records including Individual Learning Plans (ILPs), student attendance records, retention and achievement and supporting work experience programmes. 10. To provide regular reports of student and programme progress and offer guidance to students on how to improve performance. 11. Liaise with Functional Skills Staff to support framework achievement, supporting Functional Skills in the workplace as required. 1
12. To undertake the verification of learners work and proactively support Internal Verifiers in maintaining high standards, submitting records of assessment and tracking as required. 13. Undertake all administrative duties to a high level to include the maintenance of all quality systems to include records of learner performance. 14. To assist with the preparation for external verification visits. 15. Develop best practice models for delivery in liaison with the Team Leader. 16. To attend standardisation meetings, Course, Team, Sector and College meetings and external meetings appropriate to the post. 17. To represent the College on public occasions, such as recruitment events and to promote the best interests of the institution by creating a positive impression of the College. 18. To contribute to the marketing and promotion of courses in the department. 19. To be aware of the responsibilities under the provision of the Health and Safety at Work Act in terms of your own safety and the effects of your own actions on colleagues, students and visitors. 20. Demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional development. 21. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the level and grading of this post. Hours of Work The postholder will normally work for variable hours based on candidate caseload allocated from time to time, and based on the operational needs of the business (excluding entitlement to annual leave and bank and public holidays recognised in England and Wales).The postholder may be required to undertake some evening and weekend duties as part of their normal working week. x Disclosure & Barring Service From time to time you may be required to undertake duties that involve unrestricted contact with children or vulnerable adults, therefore the offer of employment is subject to a satisfactory Standard/Enhanced Disclosure statement from the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS).
