1 About LCBT LCBT is the leading specialist college for beauty and related industries; founded in 1995 the college is now the largest in the UK delivering approx 30% of NVQ Beauty Therapy qualifications in London and works with key employers in the industry to develop appropriate qualifications that meet the needs of the sector. The college is funded directly by Skills Funding Agency. The college holds the following quality standards: OfST: Grade 2 (Good) June 2009 Matrix Standard for Internal and xternal Advice, Information and Guidance: successfully reaccredited against the new standard in June 2012 Investors in People Standard: Silver June 2011 LCBT s mission is: Creating World Class Skills. LCBT is open all year, operates without term breaks and offers monthly enrolment, meeting the needs of learners and employers, by open access to learning throughout the year and offering opportunity to employers to qualified therapists and other qualified potential employees through the in house West nd Skills Shop and Business Support Unit brokerage service. Learners are able to progress to higher levels without a break, moving into employment quickly; it is possible for Level 2 and 3 to be completed within 15 months The college s inclusive policy of enrolment is summarised by our strap line Careers not Courses, built around our distinctive pre-enrolment policy designed to establish learners needs, aims and aspirations to work in the industry and place them on the appropriate course which directly contributes to the outstanding success and progression on to sustainable employment or further learning. LCBT enrols approximately 1200 learners per year for Beauty Therapy NVQ programmes. nrolment numbers increase year on year and yet demand from learners and employers, despite the current economic climate, still heavily outweighs the places and jobs available. LCBT s Central London location and world renowned reputation for quality attracts learners from 78 Local Authorities in London, the South ast, together with other parts of the UK. Our Apprenticeship provision recruits more widely and has included learners from Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales Specialist short course delivery is focused on industry needs and paid for directly by the learner or employer. emand for this provision increases year on year with the recent addition of additional building capacity. mployers in the Beauty Therapy market are defined as 90% micro and small businesses are supported through the LCBT Business Support Unit and SM Clinics, offering skills analysis, training workshops, and jobs brokerage through the in-house recruitment service, which is free to use for employers and any student who has successfully completed a course with us. Consistently each year, at least 90% of learners progress to further education or employment. Major planned areas of expansion for 2012/13 include the introduction of a range of Health and Wellbeing related fitness courses; expansion of our provision to a wider range of young people pan-london; a wider range of courses designed to support the long-term unemployed into sustainable jobs in partnership with Jobcentre Plus; the introduction of a wider range of apprenticeship frameworks; an increased number of VRQ or short courses; together with the introduction of Initial Teacher Training courses (PTLLS and TLLS). Other opportunities for expansion include the care sector, distance or e-learning and the overseas market.

Some overnight stays may be required. 6 Months About Business evelopment The Business evelopment Team is a growing department and is responsible for developing business across the entire LCBT portfolio including apprenticeships. In previous years, LCBT has delivered apprenticeships nationally with over 1000 learners. However, from 2013 we will be focussing our Apprenticeship delivery in the workplace around Fitness and Leisure frameworks, where we are expecting to see significant growth. Purpose of Role: To be responsible for maintaining and training a caseload of learners as agreed with Line Manager. To coach, train, assess and verify candidates through health and social care NVQ and apprenticeship frameworks, complying at all times with LCBT and Awarding Organisations Quality Assurance requirements. To support the business growth activity with following up leads, generating new business and supporting learners into sustainable employment (if applicable) in order to meet agreed targets and budget contributions as directed by Line Manager and meeting agreed start profiles. Over-arching KPIs: Minimum Levels of Performance ratings as determined by LCBT; Financial contribution in line with area budget and profile Plus 2 further KPIs as agreed with your line manager

3 Purpose and Objectives: (Financial) To positively market the company to acquire new business partners within the Fitness and Leisure sector. To engage with employers and maintain current partnerships to secure repeat business Through learner and employer engagement ensure that programs are completed within agreed timescales nsure a current up to date knowledge of the company products and services To secure agreed new starts and outcomes each month to ensure financial viability Be responsible for organising workload and time/diary management Be responsible for the company property you are given to carry out your job role To maintain consistently high levels of auditable documents Complete CP activities to maintain industry knowledge and competency Complete all paperwork required to show clear audit trail of progress and achievement using e- portfolios. To internally verify and sample in accordance with Awarding Organisations standards for an allocated number of learners as agreed with the line manager. To ensure that all aims are closed in a timely way with the MIS department and frameworks are processed in accordance with Apprenticeship requirements Purpose and Objectives: (Quality) To deliver to own targets to ensure overall contracts and/or service level agreements are complied with both in terms of volumes and stakeholders expectations. To deliver an exemplar level of customer service to all LCBT clients Identify business solutions to meet client needs To provide, support and guidance on all of the learner s program To ensure the delivery of training is in line with each client s needs and internal company objectives Attend standardisation and development meetings as necessary to ensure current product and delivery knowledge is provided to the customer Support the demands of the department and business as needed. Maintain and keep up to date electronic calendar/diary To comply with audit compliance guidelines To comply LCBT policies and procedures To observe awarding organisation regulations and standards Rearrange visits cancelled by the learner in timely manner to ensure no significant gaps in learning delivery ngage with employers to promote Apprenticeships and other LCBT training programmes and their benefits. Attend external events that have a positive impact on LCBT inclusion to the Fitness and Leisure areas such as careers events as requested by your line manager To undertake other training activities, attend meetings and other reasonable requests to support the deployment and development of programmes

4 Achieve agreed completions rate nsure materials provided are effective and meet Quality Assurance requirements for programme delivery Attend standardisation and development meetings to ensure that you provide a quality service that fits the abilities of LCBT to deliver and the needs of each client. Maintain and record own CP with regard to technical expertise and trainer-assessor skills To undertake development requirements to enable the company to broaden the schemes on offer Maintain and increase where possible financial contribution Follow up marketing leads and referrals efficiently and within the agree timeframe Meet all verification requests in line with verification policy, including arranging site visits and formative verifications To ensure all sub aims of the framework are closed and claimed in accordance with awarding organisation requirements and SFU funding guidance Comply with any related industry compliance standards (e.g. Health and Safety), to ensure up to date Fitness and Leisure industry knowledge Any other reasonable requests made by line management or irectors Further Responsibilities: Interview, sign up and induct new Learners onto the correct program Coach, mentor, train and assess Learners nsure the companies HR policies and procedures are adhered to To interact and engage with employers in existing and new sites when conducting marketing visits To support the work of the company and share best practice Progress all learners to achieve within their planned programme finish date Liaise with other team members to support the team in reaching their targets To ensure the learners welfare and safety whilst on the training programme and carry out checks and monitoring of their work placement s health and safety, equality of opportunity and adherence to employment legislation To ensure customers receive an enriched learning experience, remain on programme and achieve the targets specified within their learning plan To undertake thorough Organisational Needs Analysis and Training Needs Analysis activities with employers, to support the work of LCBT as a training partner To meet in the context of the LT role, the duty to report concerns re the well-being of any learner This list is not exhaustive Additional Information Allocation of apprenticeship candidates will depend on demand thus could vary from time to time hence working hours could vary. There is no set working pattern, but there is an expectation that a minimum of 40 hours per week will be worked. There may be a need to reflect the client s (employers) availability hours and learners working hours and must work flexibly to meet the specified number of contact hours needed for each learner/apprentice. You will need to maintain your outlook calendar and provide, as required, supporting documentation. Time sheets will be collected on a weekly basis.

5 Personal Specification The detail which follows shows the essential () and desirable () criteria for the post. 1. ducation, Achievements, Qualifications, and Training Literacy and numeracy at least level 2 (grade c or above) HN in Fitness and Leisure Management or equivalent 32/33/A1 Assessors Award Level 3 or TAQA level 3 CTTL's - level 4 34 or TAQA Level 4 - Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Process and Practice or the desire to work towards 2. xperience Significant and current Fitness and Leisure management experience as a minimum is essential (for Fitness and Leisure LT roles) Working with strict deadlines and targets Working with a diverse client base and experience of organising own diary Working with SFA/SF/ Government funded contracts Working in customer facing roles xperience of working in a team and supervising others Industry/sector knowledge to include knowledge of employment rights and responsibilities xperience in Staff training/coaching/mentoring/inductions.
