This Style Guide will help you successfully use the DGNB brand environment for your promotional material. Use brand values successfully As a DGNB Auditor / Consultant, you can use sub-components of the DGNB brand environment for your promotional material. These include the DGNB System logo, the DGNB Awards in bronze, silver and gold as well as the training level logos for becoming a DGNB Registered Professional, DGNB Consultant or DGNB Auditor. You thus benefit from an optimum service that will enable you to position yourself as an expert partner for sustainable construction in your market. Protecting brand values together In order to ensure a uniform, professional brand identity, it is essential that all parties concerned adhere to the guidelines in this Style Guide. Brand hierarchy Page 01 COUNCIL PRODUCTS/SERVICES CORRECT USE OF THE DGNB BRAND ENVIRONMENT A sequential brand hierarchy has been developed in order to create a DGNB brand environment, which is simple and easy to use. This hierarchy categorises and relates the various levels provided by the individual sub-components in the DGNB brand environment. All DGNB Style Guides are based on this brand hierarchy. This enables partners, investors and developers to successfully use the sub-components for their promotional material.

DGNB SYSTEM Sustainable building with a systems approach B-01.

B-01. DGNB SYSTEM 01. Logo Page 01 The DGNB System logo may only be used as part of the DGNB Certification or DGNB Auditing / Consulting. The logo symbolises the DGNB Certification System. Basic WaveQuad shape The distinctive design of the DGNB System logo with a diagonal wavy line. System logotype The logotype forms a core component of the DGNB System logo. The position of the logotype may not be changed. LOGO STRUCTURE The System logo consists of three core elements: WaveQuad (blue with a diagonal wavy line) DGNB logotype (white) System logotype (green) This structure may not be changed. DGNB Auditors / Consultants may only use the DGNB System logo for promotional purposes in the following cases: Explaining the DGNB System Presenting Auditing / Consulting services It is not permitted to use it in any other context. Image size In all applications, the size of the DGNB System logo may be no larger than 80% of the size of the developer s logo, if this is depicted. DGNB logotype The logotype forms a core component of the DGNB System logo. The position of the logotype may not be changed.

Official terminology Page 02 OFFICIAL TERM EXPLANATION FOR BUILDINGS EXPLANATION FOR DISTRICTS To ensure a professional, uniform brand identity at the linguistic level, only the official DGNB terms may be used in texts (see table). GERMAN: DGNB System DGNB Zertifizierungssystem ENGLISH: DGNB Certification System The system is known as the DGNB System, DGNB Zertifizierungssystem or DGNB Certification System. DGNB Auditors and Consultants or their respective companies may translate the words System or Certification System into their own language. These official terms take into account both the German-speaking world as well as other languages. GERMAN: DGNB Vorzertifikat ENGLISH: DGNB Pre-Certificate A building that is still in the planning phase is awarded a DGNB Vorzertifikat or DGNB Pre-Certificate. DGNB Auditors and Consultants or their respective companies may also translate the word Pre-Certificate into their own language. A district that is still in the planning phase is awarded a DGNB Vorzertifikat or DGNB Pre-Certificate. DGNB Auditors and Consultants or their respective companies may also translate the word Pre-Certificate into their own language. GERMAN: DGNB Certificate ENGLISH: DGNB Certificate A completed building is awarded DGNB Zertifikat or DGNB Certificate. DGNB Auditors and Consultants or their respective companies may also translate the word Certificate into their own language. A DGNB Zertifikat Planung / Erschließung or a DGNB Certificate Infrastructure is awarded when 25% of the infrastructure for a district is completed. DGNB Auditors and Consultants or their respective companies may also translate the word Certificate Infrastructure into their own language. A completed district is certified as DGNB Zertifikat Quartier or DGNB District Certificate. DGNB Auditors and Consultants or their respective companies may also translate the word DGNB District Certificate into their own language.

Companies that employ trained staff members may use the DGNB System logo in their promotional material. However, the logo must always be depicted together with a personnel-related explanatory text (see left). A personnel-related explanatory text for companies in order to highlight the added value of their trained employees in their promotional material: Our staff advise investors and project developers on sustainable building and DGNB Certification. Companies that employ trained staff members may use the DGNB System logo in their promotional material. However, the logo must always be depicted together with a personnel-related explanatory text (see Category B-01, page 03). CORRECT USE OF THE DGNB SYSTEM LOGO The three values for which the DGNB product brand stands worldwide are comparability, transparency and security. It is important to ensure a uniform and consistent external presentation to ensure that all stakeholders benefit from this added value in the long term. We therefore request that DGNB Auditors / Consultants only use the DGNB System logo in the form documented in this Style Guide. Wrong proportions Use as watermark The core elements of the DGNB System logo (WaveQuad and logotypes) may never be used separately. Depiction against a dark background Combination to form a new logo

Environmental B-01. DGNB SYSTEM 08. DGNB graphics Page 08 The DGNB offers binding graphics for use in promotional material in conjunction with the DGNB Certification System. These may be used in printed material, presentations and on company websites on the Internet. Application of the Certification System CUSTOMISATION The graphics are based on the brand design used for the DGNB System. It is possible to visually adapt them to accord with the respective corporate design used by the DGNB Auditor / Consultant. Importance of the Pre-Certificate The company itself must adapt the graphics as required and then have them checked with the DGNB. Buildings and districts are assessed using the three scores bronze, silver and gold. In addition, there is the DGNB Certificate (white) which is only conferred to existing buildings. B-02. DGNB AWARDS 01. Logo for registered projects Page 01 The DGNB logo in blue may be used for buildings and districts that have already been registered but have not yet been awarded a (Pre-)Certificate. Basic WaveQuad shape The distinctive design of the DGNB logo (blue) with a diagonal wavy line. LOGO STRUCTURE The DGNB logo consists of two core elements: WaveQuad (blue with a diagonal wavy line) DGNB logotype (white) This structure may not be changed. DGNB Auditors / Consultants may only use the DGNB logo in blue for promotional purposes in the following cases: Explaining the DGNB System Presenting a registered project It is not permitted to use it in any other context. Image size In all applications, the size of the DGNB Awards may be no larger than 80% of the size of the company logo if both are depicted together. DGNB logotype The logotype forms a core component of the DGNB logo. The position of the logotype may not be changed.

B-02. DGNB AWARDS 02. Logos for (Pre-)Certificates Page 02 Building and districts are presented with an award (Bronze, Silver or Gold) according to their scores. In addition, the award DGNB certified (white) is exclusively conferred to existing buildings with a total score between 35 and 49%. DGNB Certified (The evaluation level Certified only applies to existing buildings) DGNB Certificate in Bronze DGNB Certificate in Silver DGNB Certificate in Bronze LOGO STRUCTURE The DGNB Awards consist of two core elements: WaveQuad (with a diagonal wavy line and in the colour of the respective precious metal or white (for existing buildings only). DGNB logotype This structure may not be changed. DGNB Auditors / Consultants may only use the DGNB Awards for promotional purposes in the following cases: Explaining the DGNB System or the evaluation levels Presenting a (pre-)certified project Basic WaveQuad shape The distinctive shape of the DGNB Award with a diagonal wavy line and in the colour of the respective precious metal or in white. DGNB logotype The logotype forms a core component of the DGNB Award. The position of the logotype may not be changed. Image size In all applications, the size of the DGNB Awards may be no larger than 80% of the size of the company logo if both are depicted together. It is not permitted to use it in any other context.

The position of the logotype may not be changed. If a company employs DGNB Auditors / Consultants and is also a member of the DGNB, the DGNB Council logo (loop) can be used in addition to the DGNB System logo (WaveQuad with System logotype).
