Although the Fibre Channel SAN market has nearly completed the shift to 16 Gb connectivity, IBM will still make older technologies available for clients who need them as part of their infrastructure. However, the supply models have changed and IBM is restructuring the way small form-factor pluggable () options are sold, resulting in an updated release of some, blade, and port activation feature codes. Replacement feature codes will be made available concurrently with the withdrawal of the older feature codes. Key prerequisites The IBM Systems Storage SAN b- switch family supports FC connectivity for servers and storage. For a list of supported servers and storage systems, refer to the Hardware requirements section. Planned availability date August 7, 2015 Description New transceiver options and bundles are now available for IBM Systems Storage SAN b- switches, these new options include 8 and optics, with shortwave and longwave availability. Refer to the Product number section for a complete list of new feature codes.
