About JSHRM JSHRM was established in 2000 with the mission of Building the Professionalism of Human Resource Management in Japan for those who are engaged in HRM in Japan * Combination of Corporate and Individual members Its activities are aiming to enhance capability of HRM professionals, to support building effective network for knowledge sharing among members, and to provide and publish research papers or proposals from global perspectives It covers a wide range of HRM such as recruitment, deployment, performance management, reward, people development, benefit, labor law Key activities are HRM Learning Course (Basic, Advanced, and Intensive), HR Seminars, and various self study groups organized by members It is a member of World Federation of People Management Associations (WFPMA) with approx. 6 billion members in 90 countries, and it delivers the most updated global HRM info to its members in alignment with Society for Human Resource Management in the United States As of Feb.1, 2015
History 1999 - Preparation Committee was established in Japan Productivity Center (a non-profit organization and non-governmental organization established in 1955) supported by SHRM 2000 - Establishment of JSHRM - First General Meeting and Symposium held - HR Café started - Membership magazine JSHRM Insights published 2001 - JSHRM 1 year anniversary conference held - First JSHRM supervised book on leadership published 2002 - HRM Learning Course (Basic) started 2003 - HRM Learning Course (Advanced) started 2008 - Book of HRM Learning Course (Basic) published 2010 - JSHRM Research Project Symposium held (2 nd one in 2011, and the 3 rd one in 2013) 2010 - JSHRM 10 th anniversary conference held

Core Business 1 : HRM Learning Course HRM Learning Course (Basic) HRM Learning Course (Advanced*) JSHRM Original Learning Course for those who would like to build the basic foundation as HR professional Active HR managers from various leading companies in Japan provide basic knowledge of HR function Mainly focus on real practices such as case study of leading companies HR basic certificate is awarded by JSHRM at the end of the class Official and unofficial networking events are held during the course period Teachers association is established from 2013 to share the learning contents and issues in advance Learning real HR cases from the first class HR practitioners who are also working as HR manager in leading companies It is aimed to strengthen an ability to think by combination of lectures ( listening ) and group discussion ( speaking ) Sharing the result of discussion in the class and learning the effective approach of problem solving with underlying principles Those who pass the final exam are entitled to receive HR professional certificate by JSHRM *It is currently conducted in alignment with Chuo University Business School as a part of its curriculum
Core Business 2 : Events HR Cafe Research Project Self Study Group Discussion on the hot HRM topics (guest speakers are invited from various areas of expertise depending on the topic) It is conducted in the evening of business days. People gather after work and engaged in discussion in a relaxed mood Example of recent topics : Role of HR business partner who supports growth of people and organization Are you able to deliver what you want to say? We tend to listen at the surface level Research on the most recent HRM issues and provide practical solutions to the society from the perspective of HR professional Example of recent activities : 2010-2012 Career of business person : Intensive research was conducted for each generation (young, middle, senior) for three years. A tool kit was developed as a result of senior generation research and a seminar was held 2013-(now) Role of HR Annual symposium is held to share the research result.
