The Role Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the newly created position of Chief Financial Officer is a key leadership role as part of the Executive Management team at Holdsworth. The role requires an experienced senior business manager with a desire to develop new systems in a changing environment. This position offers an opportunity for establishing a leadership career in the not-for-profit sector. The priority of this role is to ensure that Holdsworth maintains transparent and effective financial management and is efficiently set up to thrive in the new funding environments. Essential Criteria Positive attitude to people with a disability, older people, those living with memory loss and their carers; A Bachelor degree in accounting or business management and a full member of CPA/CA; Demonstrated experience managing a complex financial system in an organization with diverse income streams; Proven ability to manage change successfully through the development and implementation of new systems and processes; Strong organisational, coordination & communication skills to successfully liaising with diverse stakeholders; Experience providing strategic support and advice to senior management on all financial matters; Page 1 of 5
Experience critically assessing new projects in terms of their financial viability and long term return on investment; Experience leading and developing a team which provides effective and professional support in all its communications and operations; Superior oral and written communication skills including the ability to build relationships across the organisation and effectively communicate complex accounting issues to non-financial stakeholders; High attention to detail and a focus on integrity of data. Desirable Criteria Experience working or volunteering in the not for profit sector; Experience in developing an integrated, cloud based IT system; Experience managing procurement processes. Key Areas of Responsibility Strategic Development: Understand and promote the rights and responsibilities of all our community members and support person centred outcomes which respond to their individual aspirations; Support the CEO in planning the future direction of the organisation s operations within the context of Holdsworth s Strategic Business Plan as well as local, state and national government policies; Work with the Board, CEO and senior management to deliver Holdsworth s annual Operational Plans; Provide strategic financial advice, support and guidance to the Board, Management team and other staff as required; Enhance operational efficiencies across the organisation. Financial Management: Ensure Holdsworth finances are managed in an efficient, effective and transparent manner; Lead organisation wide budgeting, financial planning, control, and reporting policies and practices; Provide financial analysis and planning that supports growth and governance; Provision of monthly financial reports to the CEO and quarterly financial reports to the Board which highlight any areas of concern or high risk for the organisation; Provide financial information for tenders, grants and proposals; Develop and review budgets for different services and the organisation as a whole; Overhead cost allocation and program costing; Provide financial support for the management of individual packages including budgeting, costing and statements; Funding body acquittals; Compliance with ATO requirements and other regulatory bodies; Liaise constructively with our external accountants; Preparation and response to annual external audits; Oversee accounting and payroll functions including accounts payable and receivables, lodgement of BAS and IAS returns, debtors management and cash handling processes. Corporate Services: Oversee our IT systems and contracts; Oversee the maintenance of Holdsworth premises; Oversee procurement processes and records; Page 4 of 5
Staff and Volunteers: Provide strategic guidance, oversight and effective management of your team; Support the financial literacy of all staff in the organisation to better understand the financial processes which affect their work; Supervise the workload and performance of staff directly reporting to you; Refer issues relating to disputes, grievances or poor performance of staff to the CEO as required; Monitor your own professional development needs, and those of your team and the wider staff; Promote safety and wellbeing of staff at all times. Governance and Risk Consider continuous improvement methodology in all aspects of operations; Deliver effective systems which maximise the use of available resources; Other duties as directed by the CEO; Deputise in the absence of the CEO as needed; Comply with Holdsworth policies, procedures and Code of Conduct at all times. Key Performance Indicators Holdsworth staff and participants feel confident in the financial management processes of the organisation in particular individual package funds; Holdsworth s resources are managed effectively to enable sustainable appropriate growth which does not jeopardise the quality of services; Holdsworth continues to maintain an appropriate financial surplus; Reliable management of Holdsworth premises and IT resources; Positive contribution to the motivation and morale of the Holdsworth team; Evidence of accurate and relevant recording and reporting of data.
