Responsible to: Business Intelligence evelopment Manager Overall Purpose To support the design, development and administration of business intelligence and management information reporting systems for provision of information, at all levels across the University, and in ensuring appropriate use of those systems across the institution. To understand business processes, assess user needs, and assist in the provision of training and support to users of relevant information and reporting systems. To troubleshoot issues related to reporting systems and underlying data quality, and to develop suitable solutions. Principal uties and Responsibilities To work as part of a small team, as well as working with colleagues across the University, to assist in the development of business intelligence and management information reporting systems to meet the needs of all users across the institution. This includes helping to identify stakeholders and their requirements, analysing processes and data flows, and supporting the development of innovative ideas and solutions. To assist the Business Intelligence evelopment Manager in the operation and provision of an institutional reporting service, responding to business needs and developments, creating new reports and maintaining existing reports. To assist in managing change in the use of the business intelligence and management information reporting systems. To help ensure the business intelligence and management information systems enable the institution to meet its external data reporting requirements. To network with other users to promote the needs of the institution, maintain an up to date understanding of the systems enhancements, and to share developments with users at other universities. To assist in the development, documentation, management and implementation of a formal method of identification of reporting requirements for the service. To assist the prioritisation of report development requests and to provide justifications for that prioritisation. To support the delivery of training on the business intelligence and management information reporting systems and tools to meet various University users training needs, taking account of systems operational cycles and agreed development plans. This includes developing training materials for in-house classes, oneto-one guidance and online self-directed learning. To assist on ensuring appropriate use of business intelligence and management information systems across the University, working with IT specialists and senior administrative staff. To present information and data for business intelligence and management information purposes to colleagues in the team and other users. Page 1
To support the planning of staff development and maintain the training records associated with business intelligence and management information reporting systems training. To work with University colleagues and external stakeholders to take forward the development of the business intelligence and management information reporting systems so that they can meet the wider needs of the institution and support the delivery of a more responsive service. To undertake any training (provided internally or delivered by an external provider) in specialist business intelligence and management information software where deemed necessary by the Business Intelligence evelopment Manager. Participation in staff-development and training (taught and self-directed), as required in order to develop knowledge expertise and skills. Generic uties and Responsibilities The post holder will be expected to undertake other responsibilities and tasks as they arise and as reasonably requested by the Business Intelligence evelopment Manager. The post holder will be responsible and accountable for ensuring all employment legislative requirements are adhered to including equality and diversity and health and safety issues.
