South Pacific Tourism Organisation JOB VACANCY Membership and Corporate Sponsorship Officer (MCSO) The role Location: Report to: Latest Review Date: Duration: Suva, Fiji Marketing Manager May 2017 3 Years The Membership and Corporate Sponsorship Officer will be responsible for the South Pacific Tourism Organisation s (SPTO) Private Sector Membership and Corporate Sponsorship programmes. The person will drive membership sales and marketing campaigns and activities to attract new private sector members and corporate sponsorship to SPTO. The role is expected to provide innovative, creative ideas that will assist in strengthening SPTO s membership base and increase private sector numbers as well as corporate sponsorship. The role s key performance requirements together with corresponding success measures are broadly described below: Responsibility Expected Outcomes Membership Develop a three year membership strategy for SPTO. Develop and implement an annual membership work programme for SPTO First point of contact for all members and prospective members. Pro-actively sourced new and potential members Response to enquiries via multiple communication channels. Provide a high level of customer service to members and corporate sponsors. Update members and corporate Timely submission of monthly and quarterly reports on Membership and other Marketing activities and outputs Timely preparation of Annual Membership work programme Timely preparation of Membership strategy and business plan Membership marketing materials available at all times: flyer, e-newsletter, e-comms, welcome packs, questionnaires and brochures etc Successful in-country membership events and drives Monthly updated membership database

Manage the member life-cycle i.e. sale and payment, new member communications, member benefit administration and renewal process Assist in the creation and development of membership and marketing material e.g. letters, new member welcome packs, newsletters, e-communications, member questionnaires and brochures Manage and develop membership events Attend events, both internally and externally to promote the SPTO and its membership opportunities Assist in the development of the membership recruitment and retention strategies Coordinate affiliate and sponsor activity and recognition programmes Coordinate and manage a network of member volunteers Undertake member market research in areas such as member benefit analysis, satisfaction and competition analysis Keep records and produce detailed reports on recruitment and retention activities, marketing campaigns and consumer behaviour Produce regular report on membership statistics and assist in sales forecasting Develop and strengthen relations and networks with industry stakeholders Identify, develop and engage in strategic partnerships to strengthen value added membership offerings Undertake digital campaigns and initiatives (online/social media) as per Membership Plan Marketing and financial records Recruitment of at least 2 new members every quarter. Successful management, direction and delivery of all membership benefits and services Effective integration and achievement of all members business objectives Establishment of a permanent market presence, and; Secured on-going membership sales lead to achieve annual business objectives and revenue targets. Secured network of partners and consultants towards effective implementation of membership programme
Actively participate in weekly marketing and staff meetings Actively participate in overall Marketing Work program as a diligent team player Contribute to compilation of the overall annual marketing plan, and in relation to the private sector membership & corporate sponsorship programme Represent the organization at trade shows and industry meetings when required by Marketing Manager Increased awareness of the SPTO marketing and membership benefits. Fast turnaround time for production of membership & corporate sponsorship program Effective participation at relevant meetings. Corporate Sponsorship Develop a three year corporate sponsorship strategy for SPTO. Develop and implement an annual corporate sponsorship work plan Developing leads with prospective and building an industry network Development of tailored presentations, including market research and data to build a powerful and persuasive proposals based on the marketing objectives and the business needs of potential clients Creatively use sponsorship assets to build and demonstrate innovative marketing programs which will add genuine value to potential clients and the SPTO Manage all contractual rights and work with sponsors to deliver their activation goals Create activation proposals for sponsors that align with their strategy Be the central point of contact internally and externally for all partner related activity Ensure the digital, communications and other internal teams are fully aware of all campaign activities of sponsors Number of new and potential corporate partners Recruitment of at least one new corporate sponsor per annum. Successful management, direction and delivery of all incumbent partners contractual rights Effective integration and achievement of all corporate sponsors business objectives Successful development and presentation of creative and bespoke partnership proposals Establishment of a permanent market presence, and; Secured on-going management sales lead to achieve annual business and marketing objectives and revenue targets. Secured network of established and committed corporate partners towards effective implementation of corporate sponsorship programme
Liaise with event organisers and other relevant partners to ensure implementation and application of sponsor rights Line manage the Sponsorship activities in conjunction with the SPTO Corporate policies, procedures and values Working with the SPTO team Work with other Divisions across the organisation to maximise engagement with membership & corporate sponsorship recruitment strategy Work closely with other streams of business - Hospitality, Events, Marketing, Finance, Sustainable Tourism, Research & Statistics and Commercial Operations Carry out duties to help support the SPTO mission statement in line with the organisation s values Actively participate in trainings, workshops and events on behalf of SPTO (regional and international) Undertake other duties as assigned by Manager or CEO Work with the Manager to ensure the membership and corporate sponsorship plan is implemented Maintain regular contact and attend regular meetings with private sector members and corporate sponsors Research, Management and Administration Undertake other research and administrative projects Co-ordinate and execute Trade and Media itineraries and act as escorts, when required Process electronic payments and liaise with the Finance Department to ensure accurate and up to date recording of payments Effective advise on relevant research topics Timely payments of marketing bills
Deliver well-research, analysed reporting within timeframes set by management KEY SELECTION CRITERIA Qualifications Mandatory Desirable Formal Qualifications At least a tertiary diploma in Tourism, Sales & Marketing, Corporate Sponsorship Business or Related Field A tertiary degree in tourism, sales & marketing or business management Knowledge and Experience A minimum of 5 years in sales & marketing/ tourism Proven experience in event management Experience of working in a membership organisation or with a loyalty /alumni scheme Experience in coordinating volunteers or groups of people An industry recognised qualification in event management Sales & Marketing Experience Fundraising Experience Corporate Sponsorship Experience Skills Strong sales & marketing skills (organisation and time management) Exhibit excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English Computer literacy including at least an intermediate level of skill in Microsoft Officer (particularly Outlook, Work, Excel and PowerPoint) Excellent telephone manner and able to communicate and sell effectively to a range of audiences Ability to undertake work using multimedia, digital or e-marketing tools Ability to work well within a team Excellent interpersonal skills Conflict resolution Ability to juggle multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines
