Purpose of the Workforce Consultant role: The purpose of this role is to lead and facilitate strategic and operational workforce development planning and implementation to meet the needs of the DHBs hospital and community health services plan in partnership with the Organisational Development team. This role will work closely with key stakeholders across the organisation to plan and translate workforce goals and plans into actions that meet the DHB priorities of enhanced patient experience and better outcomes. This role has regional and national linkages through the workforce development activity being undertaken across DHBs, Health Workforce New Zealand and other Government Agencies. Develop, lead and implement workforce development strategies and action plans to meet the priorities of the DHB In partnership with Hospital Services, Director of Patient Experience and professional leads, develop and lead the implementation of the DHB workforce development strategy and actions that enables the DHB to meet its short, medium and long term workforce needs. Assists with planning workforce numbers, skill sets and training needs through application of tools that enable detailed workforce planning to support new facilities, new ways of working, improved and efficient patient flow across services and Waitemata DHB sites. Develops, supports, contributes to programmes that increase Maori and Pacifika workforces across the district. Manages the Waitemata DHB scholarship programme, ensuring transition from tertiary study to employment for staff supported by the DHB. Manages programmes that provide health career exposure for students. Creates ways for DHB staff to promote and attract students (secondary and tertiary) to work at the DHB. activity, and delivery of workforce solutions. Develops and supports leadership development in conjunction with the Clinical Leader, Health Leadership. Works with regional and national agencies to enhance workforce development goals, activities in their application across the health system, with focus on local and regional application. Assists primary care with workforce development as required. Drafts workforce reports for the Board and drafts relevant sections for the Annual plan and Annual report. Succession Planning Develop and lead WDHB s good employer programme Statutory & Treaty of Waitangi obligations Produces regular demographic information and is able to use this data to consider long term workforce implications. Develops DHB succession planning for clinical, core and management services. The DHB is recognised as having a robust and innovative good employer programme that is both inclusive and responsive to diversity. Ensures the professional and political integrity of WDHB by carrying out all functions in compliance of the Treaty of Waitangi and by demonstrating a serious commitment to keeping the treaty alive.
