Essential skills and experience Degree qualification, or equivalent work experience suited to the role; Demonstrated capacity to provide leadership and manage a team of experienced staff; Experience in delivering services to students, in particular international students Demonstrated skills and experience in business development, including either student recruitment or business development; Capacity to foster and maintain relationships with external clients, agents and businesses; Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills; Demonstrated capability to develop effective working relationships with a diverse range of people including the capacity to operate as an effective member of a senior management team; Effective time management and organisational skills; Demonstrated capacity to manage a busy workload; Experience using educational software and ability to efficiently learn new software skills Desirable criteria A sound knowledge of the business environment for internships, including internship requirements, visa and regulatory aspects What we offer $85,000 to $100,000 base salary plus superannuation and annual bonus (subject to targets). Overview and Objectives of the Position: The Careers & Internships (C&I) operations deliver internship and workplace preparatory courses across five Australian states to meet the requirements of national professional associations and the workforce generally. The unit provides career ready preparation for students seeking to enter the workforce at early stages of their professional career. C&I offers a portfolio of programs which develop foundation skills and career learning skills to enable students to progress their employment goals in their chosen career. C&I operates as a collegiate, matrixed operational model leveraging the skills and expertise of the C&I and partner Navitas business units to deliver targeted and nuanced work ready and work development solutions for individuals, education partners, host companies and professional associations across Australia. The C&I team works closely with other Navitas units, to combine areas of expertise to enable a broad range of students and clients to participate and succeed in the workplace of today and the future. Responsible for effective management of the NSW Careers and Internships operations, to ensure it achieves its goals in terms of finances, student recruitment, student intern placements, operations, administration and program delivery. The NSW Operations Manager has a key role in the business unit, representing all products C&I has to offer as well as overseeing the operations so as to maintain a quality program. The NSW Operations Manager is a member of the C&I senior management team and will contribute to the development of strategic initiatives for the unit including product development and cross-unit business initiatives. 2. In conjunction with the National Business Manager, Director, Careers and Internships and other C&I State Managers and Team Leaders, ensure the business unit has the appropriate centralised management in regard to: Contributes to business unit strategy in line with the objectives Contributes to sales strategies, policies and processes Contributes to marketing (including e-marketing) strategy, policies and processes Development and monitoring of Rolling Forecasts Monitoring and reporting on monthly and YTD financial performance via P&Ls Development and implementation of cross business unit activities Development and management of internal Navitas relationships Development and management of external relationships Product management Sound knowledge of shared services (IT, HR, property, Q&C) and provision of feedback into these areas as required to effect business objectives Provide leadership for: External relationships Product Management for specific programs as required Others as directed by the National Business Manager Sales & Business Development For the state of NSW: Builds and implements processes to maximise sales in all C&I products Trains and coaches staff with these responsibilities and ensures knowledge of products Ensures prospective students receive accurate and timely information Manages the full process from enquiry to admission Oversees the issuance of CoEs to students Ensures strong relationships and management of key recruitment partners (agents) Ensures C&I is appropriately represented at key recruitment events Ensures the staff have access to appropriate marketing materials Provides market intelligence on the local area, including competitor analysis Builds cross business unit synergies Develops internal relationships for sales to existing Navitas students Contributes to the development of new business opportunities in consultation with the Business Development and Industry Engagement Manager Administration For the state of NSW effectively administers: - Finance - Effectively manages the budget in terms of revenue and expenses - Assists in formulating the draft Rolling Forecast for each quarter for the region - Ensures Company Credit card is balanced each month in a timely manner - Property, within the scope of the role: www.navitas.com Page 3
- Ensures property is cared for; WHS&E issues are managed and staff have suitable office environment - Human Resources, within the scope of the role: - Assists with the recruitment of appropriate staff - Develops and implements staff KPIs - Manages staff leave requirements - Liaises with the National Business Manager and HR in regard to staff disciplinary requirements - Recommends new staff appointments - Information Technology within the scope of the role: - Ensures the business has appropriate hardware and software for its operations - Ensures staff adhere to the Navitas IT policy - Ensures staff appropriately use the CRM, SharePoint and other company IT systems - Compliance - ensures all staff adhere to the relative compliance issues Business Operations For the state of NSW, ensures effective: Liaison with other key managers liaises with the staff member responsible for each product that C&I offers Enrolment procedures ensures staff understand and implement enrolment procedures Course Administration ensures all coursework is effectively recorded through liaison with the delivery team and Curriculum and Learning Manager Coursework delivery assists with the management of the coursework delivery through assisting with classrooms; teacher recruitment and monitoring delivery. This includes direct liaison with the Curriculum and Learning Manager Diagnostic testing manages the delivery of the diagnostic testing regime Quality of delivery ensures all programs are delivered using quality processes and achieving quality outcomes Student satisfaction monitors student satisfaction through appropriate informal and formal methodology and develops action plans to address identified issues. This includes direct liaison with the Business Services Manager Student management disciplines students and imposes appropriate sanctions as required Document storage and archive Professional Association liaises with the Professional Associations including CPA Australia; ACS and EEA as required Organises and manages regular meetings with key internal teams Organises and attends graduation ceremonies Organises and monitors activities that enhance the student experience Internship Placements For the state of NSW, ensures: www.navitas.com Page 4
Placement team manages placement functions to ensure timely placement of all interns Ensures 100% of placements to a suitable host company Host company liaison/development to expand the number and quality of companies Manages the process by which Internship visits are undertaken Reporting & Analysis Prepares weekly reports student numbers against targets; significant operational issues Prepares Rolling Forecasts for region on a quarterly basis Participates in management meetings by teleconference or attendance Liaises with Product Managers Other reports as required Product Manager Undertakes Product Manager responsibilities as required (see separate position description) Other Duties Contributes to the strategic development of C&I Undertakes surveys at regular intervals Other duties in line with this PD 4.
