Invitation It is my pleasure to announce the FEBS3+ conference From molecules to living systems, to be held between 2-5 September, 2018 in Siófok, Hungary. The FEBS3+ conference scheme supports the joint organisation of scientific meetings by three or more FEBS constituent societies. Accordingly, the Siófok meeting is hosted by the Hungarian Biochemical Society, and is jointly organised with the Slovenian Biochemical Society, the Croatian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Serbian Biochemical Society. With this conference we aim to replicate the format and build on the success of two earlier FEBS3+ meetings held in 2012 in Opatija, Croatia; and in 2015 in Portoroz, Slovenia. The conference will also be considered the National Annual Meeting of the participating societies. The scientific program will cover the most up-to-date topics in the field of molecular life sciences, particularly biochemistry and molecular biology. Special attention will be given to omics and systems approaches, and to studies exploring the molecular basis of disease. The scientific sessions are organised around themes that are most attractive to the participating societies. I believe this international meeting presents an excellent opportunity to showcase our latest results in this collection of fast moving and topical research fields, find new ideas and start new collaborations. Conference Venue The venue of the conference is Hotel Azúr****, wellness and conference centre, situated on the lakeside of Balaton. Lake Balaton is the largest lake in Central Europe. Since Hungary is landlocked, Balaton is sometimes called the Hungarian Sea. The Zala river provides the largest inflow of water to the lake, and the canalized Sió is the only outflow. Balaton has a surface area of 592 km² and a length of 77 km, a width ranging from 4 to 14 km. The lake s surface is 104 m above sea level, and its depth varies up to 12.2 m (mean depth is 3.2 m). Hotel Azúr is a wonderful Mediterranean style hotel, situated in three buildings, is open to guests all year round with 222 air-conditioned balconied rooms equipped with extras, of which 18 are luxury suites that satisfy all needs. Exhibition Opportunities In addition to the opportunities described above, certainly exhibition space is also offered for interested companies. The organisers intend to hold an informal exhibition in the coffee break area without building shell scheme exhibition booths. Exhibition space can be ordered by any company, however, priority spaces have been reserved for sponsoring companies selecting any of the packages above. The m 2 space listed in the official packages can be increased with the payment of surcharge and according to the conditions detailed below. The minimum unit space that can be ordered is 4 m 2. The exhibition unit space includes: the selected space, 1 table, 2 chairs, 1 waste paper bin, electrical connection (230 V). Besides, the logo of exhibiting companies will be recorded in the Book of Abstracts and the website. The published m 2 rates do NOT include the registration fee of the exhibitor. Application and General Payment Conditions All sponsors and exhibitors wishing to apply for any of the services listed in this brochure are required to register by submitting the enclosed registration form to Diamond Congress Ltd. with an authorised signature. Applications are handled at first-come first-served basis, but priorities are given to main sponsors, in terms of advertisements, exhibition space, and selection of sponsorship opportunities. Space will not be reserved without a written application. Exhibition space cannot be occupied unless the full amount is paid before the dates shown below. The organisers of the exhibition retain the right to rearrange the stands in case the overall concept or organisational matters force them to do so.
