Job Description Director of Business Development Reporting to: Responsible for: The organisation: Chief Executive Directly managing three positions: Head of Investment Relations Head of Marketing and Communications Head of Franchising which in turn oversee a broader team of 14 positions and three consultancies Reall is pioneering the development of a global bottom of the pyramid housing market across a network of Development Enterprises, each focused on creating financially, socially and environmentally sustainable urban living environments. Role overview: The primary purpose of this role is to raise the profile of Reall, develop and grow Reall s enterprise network and to increase investment into the network. Reall is a fast-paced and ambitious international development organisation with shifting requirements. We are at a pivotal point in our development, and therefore the successful candidate will be strategic with an entrepreneurial mind-set, adaptable and able to juggle competing and changing priorities. Other: The post holder will be part of the Executive Team. Key responsibilities: 1. Strategy Developing and executing the Reall Network market/network development strategy Developing the brand strategy across the global Reall Network Identify and develop the company s unique selling propositions and differentiators 2. New Business Development Understanding the market, and monitoring the market for information and creative trends (networking with major players, attending industry functions and events, and monitoring industry publications and research) Researching and prospecting for new investors to ensure a robust pipeline of engagements within the market Build relationships with the decision makers within the client organisation Planning deal approaches and pitches Participating in the negotiation of terms and deal closing Developing the systems and procedures to enable effective execution

Management Managing programmes, projects and budgets Monitoring, analysing and forecasting investment targets/progress against targets Preparing analytical and performance reports as required for management and Board purposes Ensuring the efficient and effective administration of data and information relating to marketing Preparing, negotiating and managing contracts related to the team, ensuring compliance with strategic objectives, internal policies and legal obligations Identifying, monitoring and managing risks related to the team 4. Client/Investor Management 5. Leadership Working with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer/investor needs Managing investor relationships to ensure ongoing mutual benefit Arranging and participating in internal and external client debriefs Developing and inspiring a team to implement the strategy and to achieve objectives and targets Ensuring all team members represent Reall in the best light Undertaking training and mentoring to business developers and other staff Additional expectations: Contributing to the development and continuous improvement of Reall s services and products Participating in strategy reviews, strategy development, and the operationalisation thereof Serving cross-functionally in the execution of programmes and projects Carrying out such other reasonable duties as may be required by the Chief Executive Changes to responsibilities: The Chief Executive may amend responsibilities from time to time in line with changing organisational strategy, structure and roles Compliance: Observing the letter and spirit of Reall s Staff Policy Manual Adhering to Reall s Development Principles Adhering to the requirements of Reall s Intellectual Property Policy and relevant Data Protection legislation At all times to work in a manner that ensures the health and safety of the post-holder, other staff, colleagues and visitors to Reall s premises Other requirements: The post is based in Coventry, and involves travel both within the UK and internationally The post-holder will work as part of a team where constructive co-operation and communication are of particular importance
Compensation package: Salary Location Hours Annual leave Pension Contract Probation Notice period 55-65K, negotiable depending on experience Coventry Normal office hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Additional work is normally arranged in line with job responsibilities 25 days plus Bank Holidays A TOIL (time off in lieu of travel) policy is in place to compensate for overseas travel Company pension scheme available Permanent Six months One week during the initial six month period, thereafter two months
Person Specification Director of Business Development Education: Preferable: A bachelor s degree and 3-5 years of business development, marketing or franchising experience. An MBA, or equivalent market/business/franchise development qualification Experience: Preferable: Minimum of 5 years proven experience working in a senior marketing, sales or franchising role within start-up, social or commercial enterprise organisations, managing teams engaged in marketing, sales, investment, fundraising and communications The above including a thorough knowledge of the social enterprise, development and impact investment context and market, the international players, policies and potential. A proven track record of raising significant value. Key skills and competencies: Excellent marketing strategy skills with a proven track record of success Excellent prospecting networking, persuasion, negotiation and closing skills Excellent communication skills, both written and oral (including presentations) Excellent knowledge of the development finance, impact investment and grant-making sectors High level of computer literacy, including word-processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, and the Internet Excellent project management, logistics and customer relations skills Highly numerate with strong ability in financial analysis, forecasting, project costing, preparing and monitoring budgets Excellent planning, organisational and administrative skills Excellent people management skills with a track record of successful team management Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with people at all levels in a wide range of organisations Desirable: Understanding of the Impact Development sector Understanding of the International Development sector Understanding of the UK housing sector Knowledge of built environment development
