PURPOSE OF THE TEAM The UK Churches team exists to mobilise the UK church to support the vision of Tearfund through giving, campaigning, lifestyle change and praying by recruiting and retaining committed lifelong supporting churches and individuals. We are in the business of being a public face of Tearfund to both new and existing supporting churches and individuals. Communicating and educating the UK Church about the mission of Tearfund is central to our work. 2. MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB Engaging with a caseload of churches in order to deliver against specific targets measuring the level of church engagement and support of Tearfund s work. Support the development of the team by encouragement and personal insight of the church audience or a specific network To maintain and develop relationships with existing supportive churches, through telephone and emails contacting church leaders and church based volunteers in order to encourage them to raise support for Tearfund within their churches and communities To share information and leads about churches and volunteers to the wider UK Churches Team, improving delivery of individual or shared targets To capture and update church and volunteer information and record on the supporter database To represent the views and interests of volunteers and church leaders in the CCT audience to the UK Churches Team and the wider organisation 3. POSITION IN ORGANISATION Reports to the Church Communications Team Leader Works to a Church Communications Strategy agreed with the Director for UK Churches and the Church Communications Team Leader Liaises with members of the Supporter Services teams, to share information Liaises with members of the UK Churches team in order to understand and promote key products and services and share information and leads which assisting the team to improve relationships
Liaises with the Advocacy team with regards to their communications and implications on the churches audience. Liaises with staff across the organisation, and externally, in obtaining and sharing information, including International Group administrators and Country Reps and external suppliers if appropriate. Dimensions and Limits of Authority: Responsible for accurately communicating information on Tearfund s work, including matters of policy, and resources available, to internal and external audiences Main point of contact for all verbal and written enquiries from a defined caseload of churches, church leaders and volunteers Collaborates with staff across the organisation to obtain information 5. To acquire and develop new church relationships through leads coming from inbound enquiries and proactive outbound calling Develop strategies to encourage the use of Tearfund s church resources Responsible for keeping up to date with the work of Tearfund and issues relating to the developing world in order to effectively communicate with the church audience Assist in the maintenance team processes and procedures Maintain integrity of information held on the supporter database 6. DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES To actively build relationships with church leaders and volunteers through non-face to face communication including telephone, email, mailings and social media defined by church communication plans. To be the named contact for a caseload of volunteers, church leaders and churches, responding to enquiries raised on the telephone, email or by post, responding professionally and within set service levels. Develop strategies to encourage engagement in Tearfund s initiatives including Connected Church, Change A Nation and available church resources at appropriate times of the year To proactively contact church representatives, scheme ambassadors and church leaders regularly by telephone or email, as appropriate, to encourage them in their relationship with Tearfund. Ensure the retention and increase of church representatives and scheme ambassadors through proactive engagement and improved relationships. Actively promoting the speaker programme in order to encourage greater awareness of Tearfund s work to individual churches on their caseload or in response to enquiries Support the delivery of monthly volunteer email and copy for Together mailing to thank and encourage involvement, while informing and promoting specific products services To acquire and develop new church relationships through leads coming from inbound enquiries and proactive outbound calling. Identifying opportunities to encourage individuals and church leaders to become more involved in the promotion of Tearfund within their church, supporting them with information, resources and advice Proactive calling to existing supportive churches to promote volunteer activity including community fundraising for Tearfund Develop strategies to encourage the use of Tearfund church resources. Create and implement a calling plan in order to influence church leaders, church reps and past pack purchasers to order and use church resources.
Responsible for keeping up to date with the work of Tearfund and issues relating to the developing world Acquiring and absorbing information on all aspects of Tearfund s work and current world situations in order to answer related enquiries and communicate our responses Ensuring awareness of Tearfund s campaigns, resources and mailings sent to supporters Ensuring detailed familiarity with all major Tearfund products, Connected Church, Change a Nation, church resources, Ordinary Hero s campaign, Tear Times and specific campaigns Develop understanding and clarity about products or services promoted to different church audiences Liaising with staff across the organisation in order to ensure access to information required to respond to enquiries Liaising closely with teams throughout the organisation to gather up to date information on disaster situations, new products or changes in Tearfund s work or policies Keep up to date with information available on our website, making recommendations to improve church engagement where appropriate Maintaining integrity of information held on the supporter database. TEARFUND INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS JOB TITLE: Church Partnership Executive OFFICE HOURS: Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm with one hour for lunch. 35 hour working week ANNUAL LEAVE - FULL YEAR: 25 days pro-rata + statutory bank hols + additional day at Christmas SICK LEAVE SCHEME: Based on length of service NON-CONTRIBUTORY PENSION SCHEME: Tearfund will contribute 10% of your salary to your pension. All staff are contractually enrolled onto the Tearfund group pension scheme NEW STAFF SERVICE: 6 months probationary period with a 3 month review GRADE: 5 SALARY: 27,061 per annum
