Church Mission Society was founded in 1799 by William Wilberforce, John Newton and other Christians whose hearts were stirred to put their faith into action. Since then, thanks to the generous and prayerful support of God s people, we have helped support over 10,000 people in mission worldwide. To find out much more about the work of our community please visit: CONTEXT The Church & Community Mission Directorate comprises the Communications Team, the Community Mission Team and the Church Mission Team. Building on the gains accrued from our 2016 rebrand, the Communications Team is developing a content-led approach to our communications that is aligned with our organisational plan. It is essential that we communicate great stories from CMS mission (both overseas and in the UK) that target specific audiences across print and digital platforms as we aspire to become the automatic choice for churches and individuals who are looking to increase their involvement with mission, whether locally or globally. We want to show that CMS has much to offer in terms of experience and resources from more than two centuries of cross-cultural mission and that we stand at the forefront of contemporary contextual mission today. In so doing, we want to see our communications deliver increased engagement with CMS as local churches and individuals are inspired to connect, to pray, to give, to learn and to participate with us in mission.

2 PURPOSE OF THE JOB The primary purpose of the video and multimedia content producer role is to create compelling video, audio and multimedia content that increases people s enthusiasm for getting involved in God s mission, be that through praying, giving or direct participation. The post-holder will also help equip CMS people in mission to produce multimedia content that will engage both supporters and potential supporters. ** NB: there may be an opportunity for up to 14 additional hours per week for a candidate who is proficient in further skills such as copywriting and/or graphic design. KEY RELATIONSHIPS The post-holder will work closely with the head of communications, digital strategist, creative designer and other content producers within the communications team to ensure that content is produced on time, on brand, appropriately tailored and shared across digital platforms. The postholder will consult regularly with the church mission team, the community mission team and the fundraising team to identify and ascertain ways in which multimedia can better serve their strategic objectives. The post-holder will spend time providing advice and training to staff and people in mission who are producing multimedia and will liaise with communications counterparts in Asia- CMS and CMS-Africa and other strategic partners as appropriate. (Line management will be by the head of communications in the first instance). MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Content creation: Initiate, create, produce, edit, embed and share compelling professional quality video and other multimedia content as directed by the head of communications in accordance with the communications strategy Develop engaging audio content for our podcast and other audio avenues Interview people for broadcast purposes Provide editorial support and advice on producing audio, video and multimedia content Organise multimedia content, making sure it is labelled, backed-up and archived, so that it can be quickly and easily retrieved Maintain and update licensing, consent and copyright protocols Ensure that security procedures are followed for all content that is made public, safeguarding the safety of all our mission personnel and strategic partners. Travel overseas and within the UK as necessary to produce content on location Promoting increased use of multimedia across the organisation: Be the in-house go-to tech expert for multimedia equipment and software, maintaining and updating hardware and software as necessary and in line with budgets Help train staff and people in mission to utilise multimedia confidently and effectively, with the understanding that most will be working mainly with smartphones or other more basic equipment

3 Work to support and deliver the CMS communications and organisational plans in line with the CMS brand Be on the lookout for technological advances that will expedite our multimedia goals Other: Carry out any additional duties commensurate with the role as required by your line manager.

4 PERSON SPECIFICATION Video and multimedia content producer Essential Desirable Qualifications Graduate or equivalent qualifications/ training. High level of literacy. Degree in film or media related area Experience Proven track record of creating multimedia content from start to finish, with a background in either charity, broadcast, freelance or agency production Strong show-reel and demonstrable experience of producing short-form content for social media platforms, utilising both professional grade equipment as well as mobile technology Experience working in communications for a charity or mission organisation. Experience of mission locally and overseas. Skills/Abilities Advanced knowledge, skill and experience of Adobe Premier Pro and the Adobe Creative Cloud suite Animation skills Solid camera operating skills, using a range of cameras, including DSLR, video cameras, GoPros, smartphone cameras and audio recording equipment An understanding of the technical aspects of operating and maintaining AV equipment and editing hardware Graphic design proficiency and demonstrable experience Portrait studio photography with post-production skills Copywriting Ability to train others (with varying degrees of knowledge and proficiency) with multimedia content-creating skills Good interpersonal and interviewing skills NB: Additional work hours may be available for candidates who possess these desirable skills Scriptwriting and storyboarding Ability to relate to people of a wide range of cultures. Creative problem solving skills. Knowledge/ Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines. Knowledge of how to maximise the reach of multimedia within web and social media platforms. Understanding of contemporary mission issues for the Church in Britain,

5 Understanding Some knowledge of the worldwide church and mission. including the significance of Fresh Expressions. Knowledge of latest theory and technological developments in the field Knowledge of CMS. Disposition Self-motivated, enthusiastic, with drive. Committed and practicing Christian also committed to the aims and values of CMS Willingness to undergo safeguarding checks Work occasional evenings and weekends. Willing to travel on occasion in Britain and possibly overseas. Full, clean UK driving license.

6 TERMS AND CONDITIONS Video and multimedia content producer Conditions, including but not limited to the below: 1. The appointment is subject to satisfactory references, a satisfactory medical report and a probationary period of six months. 2. Salary: The post is within Grade E of the CMS salary scale, starting at 26,675 per annum pro rata. Salaries are reviewed annually. 3. Expenses: Expenses incurred in connection with work in accordance with the regulations in force will be paid. 4. Pension and Life Assurance Scheme: CMS offers a generous non-contributory personal pension scheme. CMS s basic contribution is 10 per cent of the pensionable salary; in addition, CMS will match up to an additional five per cent should an employee contribute to five per cent. If an employee joins the pension scheme, he/she will also be enrolled into the life insurance scheme which provides a death in service benefit of four times the basic pay. Those eligible for pension rights under the Clergy Pensions Measures administered by the Church of England Pensions Board may continue to qualify for those rights. 5. Work Base: This is an Oxford-based post and this will be your centre for the purpose of claiming travelling expenses if appropriate. 6. Holiday Entitlement: Annual leave is 28 days (pro rata), of which up to 3.5 are to be taken between Christmas and New Year, plus statutory bank holidays. 7. Notice: Two months written notice on either side is required for the termination of the appointment after the probationary period.
