Ko Awatea is key in supporting the aim of CMH to become the best healthcare system in Australasia by 2015. The name Ko Awatea was gifted to the Centre and means first light, the opportunity to create new futures. The aim of the Building Capability Team is to support the organisation in developing high performing individuals and teams who will deliver safe patient and whaanau centred care, improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the health system and transform the health of our patients, clients and community. Building Capability is charged with shaping and supporting this need and the Organisational Development Consultant is pivotal in this endeavour. The Organisational Development Consultant will work in collaboration and partnership with other members of the Building Capability Team and key stakeholders to identify drivers for change that will enable improved organisational performance and workforce capability, to have the right staff, that have the skills, competencies and behaviours to improve quality of care, patient safety and patient and staff experiences. They will be challenged by a range of complex strategic and operational issues, these will require customised solutions to meet the requirements of the service. There will be demands to meet deadlines, maintain accuracy and the quality of information. Situations they encounter will call for tact and diplomacy and will require information to be handled in a discreet and sensitive manner. They will be empowered to make decisions and recommendations relating to organisational development and initiatives. Will be expected to act on own initiative and utilise problem solving skills to develop innovative approaches to resolving issues. Discretion is required to be exercised in releasing confidential information to the appropriate parties. Work with the whole of system CMH teams in change, moving towards a contemporary learning future. Key Accountabilities Contribute to the development of the Organisational Development Strategy. Design and implement key initiatives from the OD Strategy. Using analytical, creative and interpersonal skills build relationships with relevant stakeholders and external partners to develop and implement a variety of organisational development activities. (This may include but is not limited to leadership and management development, talent management, coaching & mentoring, performance management, Patient & Whaanau Centred Care, Patient Care Quality & Safety, change management, continuous improvement and will change as organisational needs dictate.) To support the development of an organisational culture where staff feel valued, supported, involved, engaged and empowered To support the workforce transformation and workforce planning processes within the organisation, working with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of integrated programmes of development Support effective communication and engagement with all staff across the organization to understand key issues and problems, and support them to identify solutions Apply specialist knowledge and expertise in areas of leadership and management development, team development, service redesign and organizational change. Support the development of new and modernized roles across the organization, including maximizing the opportunities to establish new models of care for clinical services To identify service areas and opportunities within the organisation where role redesign could have a positive impact on the delivery of the organisations strategic objectives Provide internal support to the organisation on developing best practice organisation development solutions Contribute to the development of strategic and business plans for the Organisational and Workforce Development Team.
