What will this potentially be used for? Section 901. It could be used for anything as it is a contingent item. 13) Please confirm that the linear foot unit of measure for bid item 2008 and 2011 refers to the length of the trenches which contain multiple runs of pvc pipe and not to the total length of the pipe. Yes, items will be paid per linear feet of trench, not conduit. 14) Which MSHA specification section applies to bid item 2009, 4-6 Gravel and Rock? What will this potentially be used for? Section 901. This is a contingent item. 3
15) Please confirm that the scope of work to be included in bid item 1094 is limited to the testing requirements detailed in specification 02200 of the City Standard specs as well project specific on site testing required for the installation of the Con Span bridge. This will include City specification sections 02200, 02770-2, testing for the Con Span Bridge and asphalt density testing. 16) What are the limits of installation required for the gravel bedding and granular backfill noted in the description for bid items 1060 and 1061? Refer to the ConSpan installation details. 17) The answer to question 3 on page 8 of addendum 4 states that the quantity for bid item 2010 refers to the quantity of lime or dust not the quantity of soil being treated. A fairly typical use of soil cement is 5% cement to a depth of 12. At this rate the bid quantity is sufficient to treat the entire existing site to a depth of over two feet. Please confirm that this is the intent of this item. The intent of this item is for soil drying as listed. This is a contingent item and may or may not be used. Brett S. Wagner Project Manager Kline, LLC d/b/a Pleasants Paving Asphalt Plant and Field Operations 7700 Grove Road Frederick, MD 21704 (301) 662-8211 x 1464 *: bwagner@pleasantspaving.com Please point me to the specification and detailing of the 12-inch pressure zone division check valve [in] concrete vault which is paid for under bid item 1066 and located at Christopher Crossing CL 39+81. I can t find either a City standard detail or standard specification for this bid item. Neither does the item appear detailed on the plans or specified in the ITB by a special condition(s). Provide American Flow Control, swing check valve series 52SC. Install (2) mainline water valves on the outside of vault for future maintenance. 4
Jeremy Palmer Antietam Electric 1. The specifications (GP4.09.2) call for temporary electric and temporary lighting. Is this needed? This would only relate to the contractor s construction trailer if they deem one necessary, neither are requirements of this bid. 2. Item #1082 Calls for handboxes to be included in this pay item. I don t see any locations for them on the drawings, the City Standards call for the conduit to be from pole to pole. Can you confirm or clarify whether these are needed, and if so, the locations they are to be installed. Junction boxes are not required. 3. Item # 2007 is for trenching of utility conduit placement. Is the conduit to be supplied by others? Is this item ONLY for trenching? Please clarify. Item #2007 can be deleted; all trenching is included under item #2008 and #2011 for all contingent utility conduits. 4. Item #2008 Is there a depth requirement? Is there a detail for the duct bank that is applicable? Equal: 36 from the shallowest conduit within the trench. Conduits shall have 3 minimum concrete encasement, SHA mix #3. Gary S.
