IBM's software environment focuses on: Enhanced usability with intuitive consumer interface and a rich set of shopper assistant functions to address any issues at the lane. In CHEC 6.5, IBM offers a redesigned graphical user interface that enhances consumer usability with cleaner colors, clearer instructional graphics, and stylish icons with global relevance. Improved manageability using comprehensive, remote systems management capabilities accessed from the enterprise, store or through configurable proactive alerts. By having greater access to inventory information, lane events, data capture functions, hardware monitoring, and software distribution, retailers are able to ensure higher availability. Higher availability utilizing message-based integration approach between POS and self checkout that eliminates the need for screen-scraping in any environment. In CHEC 6.5, IBM has improved information available about cash devices to allow for faster problem determination and resolution. IBM United States Software Announcement 211-005 IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 1

Retailers having greater control of their own environment through software development tools and training that equip retailers or partners with the skills to better manage the environment on their own. With simple UI enhancements to manage the look and feel of the self checkout screens and more involved functionality extensions, IBM software encourages active involvement. This not only drives greater control, but also drives down the TCO associated with ongoing maintenance of self checkout in a retailer's environment. CHEC 6.5 has been designed to meet the guidelines for payment application vendors by the Payment Card Industry - Security Standards Council (PCI-SSC) at the Payment Application - Data Security Standard (PA-DSS) V1.2 level. This design point helps retailers meet their Payment Card Industry - Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) requirements. CHEC 6.5 is the prerequisite software level required to run the new IBM Self Checkout System 6 (machine type 4888), which supports cash recycling. CHEC 6.5 is also supported on IBM Self Checkout (machine type 4845). CHEC 6.4 will continue to be available for retailers that are ordering IBM Self Checkout (machine type 4845). Key prerequisites Hardware The CHEC Client Application software supports the following lane models with WEPOS preloads: IBM Self Checkout System 6 (machine type 4888) lanes available in cash and cashless configurations IBM Self Checkout (machine type 4845) Model Exx lanes available in cash and cashless configurations Note: CHEC 6.5, or later, is the required prerequisite software level to support machine type 4888. The system unit in the self checkout lanes must be either 4800-742 or 4800-743; 1 GB memory minimum, 2 GB memory is recommended. The CHEC Back Office System Server (BOSS) Application software supports IBM Self Checkout (machine type 4845 or 4888) BOSS Model BW4 with Windows 2003 Server preload. The system unit in the Self Checkout BOSS must be either 4800-782 or 4800-743; 2 GB memory. Software Upgrading to CHEC 6.5 requires an upgrade to Store Integrator V3.2 on the Point of Sale for customers that use an IBM POS. Planned availability date May 27, 2011: CHEC V6.5 CHEC 6.4 remains orderable for machine type 4845; refer to the Ordering information section. Description IBM Checkout Environment for Consumer-Service (CHEC) V6.5 is the prerequisite software level required to run the new IBM Self Checkout System 6 (machine IBM United States Software Announcement 211-005 IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 2

type 4888) which supports cash recycling. CHEC 6.5 supports IBM Self Checkout (machine type 4845). CHEC 6.4 will continue to be available for retailers that are ordering IBM Self Checkout (machine type 4845). IBM Checkout Environment for Consumer-Service V6.5 (CHEC) enhancements include: Serviceability enhancements of cash devices to improve cash trouble shooting leading to higher availability of the lanes. Enhanced tracking and display of cash accept and dispense errors, including ability to retain and show error code from last bill dispense failure Enhanced graphics for some cash maintenance panels Enhanced trouble shooting steps for some cash errors User interface (UI) enhancements. IBM has spent significant effort to evaluate the self checkout user interface in order to implement changes that will make it easier and more intuitive for consumers to use. New instructional graphics have been created throughout the UI to more clearly illustrate the actions that consumers need to take. For example, use of "green arrows" matches what is used on the IBM Self Checkout System 6 hardware to guide consumers to take appropriate action. New icons for each major button on the screens are consistent in shape and color, and easily recognizable by all worldwide users. For example, the "bell" icon on the help screen has been updated with the "question mark." The updated screen color scheme has a gray background and clean, vibrant colors that pop off the screen to attract attention. Cash Tracking & Reporting enhancements now allow retailers to track the specific cash levels for both bills and coins in both standard cash handling configurations and optional cash recycling configurations. This ensures continued ability for stores to proactively manage their self checkout lanes regardless of cash configuration. The lane's UI can be configured to show a button that allows customers to enter and exit an accessibility mode. For example, when in this mode, portions of the screen are within reach limits by customers with disabilities. Quick Lookup Manager now allows sorting of items by name and changes how PLU (Price Look Up) items are sorted. Upgraded platform components: WebSphere Application Server (WAS) V7 (BOSS) DB2 V9.7 (upgrade on Lane only) JavaPOS V1.13 (Lane) Store Integrator V3.2 (Lane) IBM Remote Management Agent V2.6 (BOSS and Lane) Reimplemented "Closed" screen using Store Integrator GUI which provides more flexibility for customization and allows lane to open more quickly. Accessibility by people with disabilities A U.S. Section 508 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) containing details on accessibility compliance can be requested at http://www.ibm.com/able/product_accessibility/index.html IBM United States Software Announcement 211-005 IBM is a registered trademark of International Business Machines Corporation 3

The first level is for accessing the Back-Office System Server (BOSS), which controls the security profiles, scale files, and software updates to the lane. This security provides typical logon security to prevent unauthorized access to these files and functions. The second level of security is performed using the BOSS to restrict lane functions by employee. This enables a system administrator to configure allowable shopper assistant functions at the lane, such as the ability to process age-restricted items, ability to void transactions, and so on. CHEC 6.5 has been designed to meet the guidelines for payment application vendors by the Payment Card Industry - Security Standards Council (PCI-SSC). A Payment Application - Data Security Standard (PA-DSS) Implementation Guide will be made available to assist retailers in configuring the solution stack to meet PA-DSS V1.2 guidelines. Ultimately, the retailer is responsible for validating its full solution for the Payment Card Industry - Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities. capabilities and that executes requested procedures, commands, or applications for one or more users or client devices. Where racks, blade enclosures, or other similar equipment is being employed, each separable physical device (for example, a blade or a rack-mounted device) that has the required components is considered itself a separate server. For the purpose of server-based licensing, Licensee must obtain entitlements for each server which is made available to the program, regardless of the number of processor cores and/or partitions in the server or the number of copies of the program on the server. Notes: Some programs may require licenses for the program and what is being managed. In that case, the following applies: In addition to the entitlements required for the program directly, Licensee must obtain entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the servers managed by the program. Some programs may be licensed on a managed basis only. In that case, the following applies: Instead of the entitlements required for the program directly, Licensee must obtain entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the servers managed by program. Client device Client device is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. A client device is a single user computing device or special purpose sensor or telemetry device that requests the execution of or receives for execution a set of commands, procedures, or applications from or provides data to another computer system that is typically referred to as a server or is otherwise managed by the server. Multiple client devices may share access to a common server. A client device may have some processing capability or be programmable to allow a user to do work. Examples include, but are not limited to actuators, appliances, automated teller machines, automatic meter readers, cash registers, disk drives, desktop computers, kiosks, notebook computers, personal digital assistant, point-of-sale terminals, sensors, smart meters, tape drives, and technical workstations. Licensee must obtain entitlements for every client device which runs, provides data to, uses services provided by, or otherwise accesses the program and for every other computer or server on which the program is installed. To order a base license, specify program number 5697-N94 for the CHEC Back Office Application or 5697-P01 for the CHEC Client Application and the distribution media feature number for the CD-ROM. Support for the first year must be ordered using the registration feature number for the corresponding Software Maintenance products for the 1 year or the 3 year option. Software Maintenance must be ordered when ordering the initial base license. For additional ordering information, refer to Software Announcement 207-208, dated September 18, 2007. Those users current on the Software Maintenance for previous versions, can obtain V6 without cost, by ordering 5697-N94 or 5697-P01 and specifying the media code only. Description Media feature number Release Base+Migr (Multi) CD-ROM V6.4 5809 Base+Migr (Multi) CD-ROM V6.5 5829 When a Self Checkout Exx lane model (machine type 4845 or 4888) or a Back Office Server (BOSS) Model BW4 (machine type 4845 or 4888) is ordered, the appropriate prerequisite client or BOSS software is included as part of the solution order and the platform portion is preloaded on the hardware before shipment to the customer. There are platform differences between CHEC 6.4 and CHEC 6.5; therefore, it is important that the correct software media feature code for the CHEC release that is required is specified on the order.
