Weights and Measures USA - NTEP This document provides guidelines for configuring and using the Weights and Measures (WAM) functionality in Retail Management Hero (RMH). Configuring WAM 1. To configure the WAM functionality in the RMH Store Manager, click Setup -> Hardware -> POS Profiles -> Weight and Measure tab. See following figure. 2. Specify the applicable information on the tab. The following provides field information: Field Enabled Region No. of decimal points Description Enables the Weights and Measures (WAM) at the corresponding POS. When enabled, the following features will be in effect: NTEP Logo and certification information on the login screen NTEP Logo and certification information in the About -> WAM Screen at POS Able to select a WAM Compliance region Able to configure the number of decimal points Specifies the country for the WAM compliance Number of decimal points displayed for quantity at the POS and at the Net Display 3. Click Save and Close. 3

Configuring Scales To configure scales in the RMH Store Manager program, perform the following steps: 1. Click Setup -> Hardware -> Register List -> Scale. 2. As applicable, configure the following settings: Field Scale in enabled for this register OPOS device name Time out Maximum scale capacity 3. Save the changes. Description Enables (turns on connection) the specific scale to the register The name of the specific OPOS scale, if connected to the register The time-out setting for the scale before it is inactivated The maximum weight that is allowed for the scale; this setting should be consistent with the actual scale capacity Units of Measure Units of Measure are defined at the RMH Store Manager for each weighted item. To define the unit of measure for an item, perform the following steps: 1. Click Merchandising -> Items -> Inventory -> Unit of Measure field. See following figure. NOTE: The value in this field is not validated; the Unit of Measure will be displayed for that weighted item at the RMH POS/Net Display. 2. After specifying the Unit of Measure, click Save and Close. Tares Defining Tares 1. In the RMH Store Manager, click Setup -> Merchandising -> Tares. 4

2. Configure the following tare attributes: Field Label Fixed Percent Description A string that identified the tare. NOTE: RMH does not enforce this string to be unique If a tare is of fixed weight, enter the number. NOTE: The Unit of Measure for the tare will be the same as the Unit of Measure of the item that the tare is assigned to If the tare is a percentage of the gross weight, enter the number. 3. Click Save and Close. Assigning Tares to Items To assign predefined tares to items in the RMH Store Manager, perform the following steps: 1. Click Merchandising -> Items (select specific weighted item) -> Weights and Measures tab. See following sample figure; this tab lists all available tares. 2. Enable (check) the boxes of the tares that you would like to associate with this item. 3. Save the information. 5

Enabling Open Tares To enable Open Tare for a weighted item in RMH, check the Allow Open Tare box in the item s Weights and Measures tab. When enabled, the Cashier will be able to enter an open tare for that item at the POS. Selecting Preconfigured Tares at the POS When a weighted item with assigned tares is scanned and measured, a pop-up window (see following sample figure) opens allowing the Cashier to select a tare. When a Tare is selected, the Tare and Net Weight fields (boxes) are updated accordingly: When an Open Tare is selected, the Cashier is prompted to enter the weight of the open tare: 6

Once tares are confirmed, the application returns to the main Transaction screen where only the Net weight of the item is displayed. 7
