4 Retail Management Her Security Rle Based Access Overview Rle-based access cntrl in Retail Management Her (RMH) regulates access t features r feature grups in the RMH POS and RMH Stre Manager based n rles that individual users are assigned t. Access is the ability f an individual user t perfrm specific business tasks. Examples f such tasks are: as Exit POS r Abrt Transactins in the RMH POS applicatin and Define/Edit Currencies r Define/Edit Purchasers in the RMH Stre Manager applicatin. Rles can be referred t as templates fr what a user can and cannt d in either the RMH POS r the RMH Back Office Manager. There are tw categries r rles: RMH POS rles and RMH Back Office Manager rles. It is pssible t define multiple rles under each rle categry; hwever, every user can have nly ne rle per categry. Predefined Rles In RMH, there are tw predefined user rles: N Access rle that has n rights selected Full Access rle that has all rights selected A new RMH user is autmatically assigned the N Access predefined rle when that user is created. Fr Micrsft Dynamics RMS legacy users, the fllwing applies: If the legacy user had the legacy Manager right checked, that user will be autmatically assigned the Full Access predefined rle after an upgrade If the legacy user did nt have the legacy Manager right checked, that user will be autmatically assigned the N Access predefined rle after an upgrade Defining a User T define a user in the RMH Stre Manager, cmplete the fllwing: 1. Frm Setup, click Peple & Security, and then click Users. 3

5 2. When the User prperties frm displays (see fllwing sample figure), define the applicable ptins. User Details Lgin ID: The user lgin id User Name: The user name Telephne: The user telephne number The user Passwrd: The user passwrd Cashier is Inactive All elements in the Define a User frm will be active when the Cashier is Inactive checkbx is unchecked. When the Cashier is Inactive checkbx is checked, this grup becmes inactive. Nte: When the user is inactive, the User is Inactive checkbx is still enabled s the user can be activated as necessary. User Rles POS rle: Lists available POS rles that can be assigned t that user Stre Manager rle: Lists available Stre Manager rles that can be assigned t that user 4

6 These bxes cntain the rles that have been defined (described later in this dcument). POS SetUp Overwrite Yu can verwrite individual rights assciated with a POS Rle fr the user. Over/Shrt Limits The ptin in this grup will be enabled fr selectin nly if the cashier has the Allwed t generate Z & ZZ Reprts selected. 3. Save the edits. Defining POS User Rles T define POS User Rles in the RMH Stre Manager, perfrm the fllwing: 1. Frm Setup, click Peple & Security, and then click POS User Rles. 2. When the POS User Rles frm displays (see fllwing sample figure), specify the relevant rle infrmatin and cnfigure the assigned rights: 5

Save the edits. Defining Stre Manager User Rles T define Stre Manager Rles in the RMH Stre Manager, perfrm the fllwing: 1. Frm Setup, click Peple & Security, and then click Manager User Rles. 6

8 2. When the Manager Rights frm displays (see fllwing sample figure), check r clear the applicable privileges. The Rights tree in this frm crrespnds t all menu chices in the Data Operatins sectin in the RMH Stre Manager. A right that is selected in the Manager Rights frm will enable user access t its crrespnding menu item in the RMH Stre Manager Data Operatin sectin: Yu can expand the rights tree in this frm and select all necessary rights fr the Stre Manager rle. When this rle becmes assciated with a user (see the previus Define a User sectin) that user will be able t access the fllwing: 7
