The accountability of this position is to drive product and service quality and customer satisfaction while maintaining an approved cost structure. Key Duties And Responsibilities 1. Key Duties And Responsibilities Continued Job Title: Director of Operations 1. Strategic Leadership and management 1.1 Participates in developing and implementing the strategic plan that supports the organisation s vision and goals; 1.2 Translates to staff the long-term plan into mid-term and short-term goals to attain support and to ensure that these are achieved by the examination services department; 1.3 Oversees a quality assurance system that ensures that CXC s examination services are planned and delivered to expected standards; 1.4 Modifies strategy in response to changing internal and external factors. 2. Oversees the strategic planning, development and operation of examinations services 2.1 Plans, develops and manages a comprehensive programme of examinations services offered by CXC; 2.2 Directs the effective development, production and secure administration and delivery of examinations products and services; 2.3 Ensures the maintenance of a departmental structure and operating standards and practices that are responsive and adaptable to evolving business needs; 2.4 Maintains awareness and knowledge of contemporary operational development theory and methods and provide suitable interpretation to organizational leaders, managers and staff within the organization. 2

Ensures successful administration and financial management of the examinations services portfolio 4.1 Maintains a sound administrative and financial management structure for CXC s examination services departments; 4.2 Responsible for ensuring that the organization has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures to meet operational and financial targets; 4.3 Oversees the annual work plan and budgeting process for reporting departments; 4.4 Monitor accuracy of work plans, integrate departmental and programmelevel work plans to organizational resources and goals, and ensure work plans map to budget and human resource staffing plan. 4.5 Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of related processes and provides reports on the operating condition of the company; 3

General Duties 5.1 Oversees and reviews the functioning of the Examinations Development and Production Department; 5.2 Oversees and reviews the functioning of the Examinations Administration and Security Department; 5.3 Manages employee performance by establishing clear goals and expectations, tracking progress against the goals, ensuring timely feedback, and addressing performance problems and issues promptly; 5.4 Manages and develops direct reporting staff; 6. Such any other duties as may be assigned by any duly authorized person from time to time. Organizational Relationships Reports to the Chief Executive Officer/Registrar. Interacts frequently with Senior Management (Pro-Registrar, Director of Corporate Services, Senior Assistant Registrars), Assistant Registrars (EDPD and EAS), Administrative Assistants and Secretaries (EDPD and EAS). Qualifications and Skill Requirements Job Title: Director of Operations 1. A post-graduate qualification in the area of business administration, economics or related field 2. Knowledge of accounting systems as evidenced by courses included in a University Degree programme and/or evidence of learning experience in financial management and budgeting 3. A minimum of twelve years post-qualification experience in a service-based organization 4. A minimum of five years experience in a senior management or leadership role(s) 5. Work experience in the Education Industry and/or examinations administration would be an asset 6. A demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of designing, constructing and analyzing tests or examinations is desirable 7. A proven track record of excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach senior-level staff to manage and develop high-performance teams and develop and implement program strategies 8. Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, flexible and innovative approach to operational management 9.
