You will join a friendly, highly motivated and impact-driven team, and will gain experience in a variety of fundraising areas. 2. General job description This is a fantastic role for someone looking to start working in fundraising and / or conservation. The Fundraising Officer will provide support across the charity, helping raise funds and awareness about rhino conservation. You will work with a range of audiences, primarily companies and zoos, but also working with Charitable Trusts and Foundations, supporters and major donors. The Fundraising Officer will also support the team with a range of financial and administrative tasks. The range of tasks and responsibilities will include: Fundraising and partnerships: Support the stewardship of existing partnerships with companies, zoos, and grant-making trusts and foundations including writing thank-you letters, creating invoices and receipts, and creating financial records using our database Support employee fundraising initiatives Maintain and build effective working relationships with SRI s supporters Liaise with SRI s Business Club members Support the Partnerships Manager in developing new partnerships with companies, including support with research, drafting partnership proposals and presentations, and responding to enquiries from companies Support the Partnerships Manager in making Charitable Trusts and Foundations applications Support SRI s zoo partners in fundraising events and activities throughout the year, including providing fundraising ideas and guidance; sending fundraising materials; following up on zoo s fundraising activities; maximising fundraising opportunities and maintaining effective relationships with our zoo partners Support other members of the team with fundraising tasks as needed Keep up to date with developments within the voluntary sector and business world through relevant publications, websites, conferences and networking Communications: Support the Partnerships Manager in creating compelling communication resources for prospective and existing partners, including partnership proposals, presentations, articles, blogs, press releases, social media content, videos, guidance on fundraising activities and newsletters Work with the Partnerships Manager to effectively communicate the impact of our partners support through a range of creative resources Events: Support the Partnerships Manager with the organisation and administration of events in collaboration with SRI s partners Support the organisation of events planned by our partners in aid of SRI Page 1 of 6
General support (together with other SRI staff) at other events, including dinners, lectures, parties etc. Fundraising administration: Responsible for carrying out weekly administrative fundraising tasks including processing donations received from platforms e.g. JustGiving, Facebook, Stripe and Virgin Money Giving; thanking donors and partners; liaising with donors, supporters and members and responding to enquiries; and general administration Support the team on database management including running regular reports and keeping data records clean and up-to-date Supporting the team on processing donations from partners and supporters; database management; processing Gift Aid details and submissions; updating the website, and general admin Working with the Communications Manager to thank our supporters including writing thank-you letters and creating records on the database (Salesforce) Support other members of the team during busy periods As well as these specific responsibilities, the Fundraising Officer can expect to take part in team discussions about fundraising strategy, issues arising in rhino conservation, field programmes etc. In addition, depending on the particular skills and interests of the successful candidate, there may be opportunities to develop other strands of work within the charity. The Fundraising Officer will be line managed by and conduct performance appraisals with the Partnerships Manager. There is a training budget of up to 500 available for the Fundraising Officer. Experience of writing contracts All applicants must be eligible to work in the UK. Save the Rhino International is a small and friendly organisation. It is innovative and the office has an informal atmosphere, but at the same time it expects high professional standards of its staff. All members of staff are required to support the work of the others, whether they are on annual / sick leave or simply under pressure. Enthusiasm, flexibility, and an aptitude for hard work will be needed. 4. Statement of particulars of employment at SRI Start date: Monday 10 September 2018 Job title: Fundraising Officer Place of work: Unit 3, Coach House Mews, 217 Long lane, London, SE1 4PR Hours of work: Normal office hours are 10.00am until 6.00pm Monday to Friday, including a one-hour lunch hour, though flexi-hours may be arranged in consultation with the Managing Director / Deputy Director Pay: Salary 21,000-22,000 depending on experience. This will be payable in monthly instalments, normally on the last Thursday of the month, direct into the Fundraising Officer s bank account Pensions: The Fundraising Officer will be automatically enrolled into a workplace pension on 10 September 2018 unless, on 10 September 2018, the Fundraising Officer is younger than 22 years old, earning less than 10,000 a year, not already an active member of a qualifying workplace pension scheme with SRI, or working, or usually working, in the UK. If the Fundraising Officer doesn t meet these criteria on 10 September 2018, but does meet them at a later date, SRI will automatically enrol the Fundraising Officer then Paid holiday entitlement: 25 days per annum. Incomplete years will be calculated on a pro rata basis Some evening and weekend working is required. In exceptional circumstances time in lieu may be offered, but this is not the normal case Absence due to illness: SRI staff are required to telephone the charity before 10.30am any day when they are not able to work due to illness. Absences of five or more days must be explained by a doctor s note Appraisals: The Fundraising Officer will have an appraisal with their line manager after the first three, six and 12 months employment and then annually Notice period: The probationary period for the post of Fundraising Officer is six months. During the probationary period, employment may be terminated by Save the Rhino or the employee with a notice period of one week; thereafter a period of one month. SRI ensures staff receive data protection training on at least an annual basis. For how long does SRI keep data?
