Responsible to the Director of Fundraising & Engagement. Working in close liaison with MS International Federation (MSIF) staff, international member organisations, supporters and volunteers. Responsible for: No direct reports. Salary: Starting at 28,000, rising to 30,000 from 01 st January 2018. Job purpose: 1) Taking responsibility for growing our exciting young international fundraising campaign, Kiss Goodbye to MS. 2) Growing our audience of DIY fundraisers doing runs, walks, cycles, climbs and other events. 3) Support implementation of other elements of MSIF s fundraising approaches as appropriate. About the MS International Federation (MSIF) and our movement The MS International Federation is a unique global network of MS organisations, people affected by MS, volunteers and staff from around the world. We have 49 member organisations and we are in contact with more than 50 additional organisations worldwide. We are all working together, as the global MSIF movement, to improve the quality of life for everybody affected by MS and to end MS forever. The MSIF secretariat in London has 13 staff and acts as a central point of communication for the whole movement, facilitating collaboration among members, convening members for learning and networking opportunities and providing capacity building support to new and emerging MS organisations. This year marks the beginning of our five-year strategy: Together we re stronger than MS. This strategy is for the whole MSIF movement, not for the secretariat alone. Throughout this strategy, member organisations will be central in designing, resourcing and implementing projects to tackle the big challenges for people affected by MS around the world. Our strategy has five interconnected strategic aims: Greater scientific understanding and new treatments Improved access to treatment and healthcare A stronger, broader MSIF movement Confident and informed decision making Positive changes in attitudes, policies and practices The role This role will suit a creative, collaborative person who is happy to get things done. The role requires an appetite for hands-on work as well as the ability to bring together, inspire and motivate fundraising staff from our member organisations across the global MSIF movement to contribute to the global campaign. You will continue the development and implementation of our peer-to-peer fundraising campaign, Kiss Goodbye to MS. Your work has the dual aim of helping our member organisations to fundraise through this campaign at the national level, as well as raise funds for MSIF. 2
You will also support the development of an exciting new international cycling event as well continuing the development and management of other DIY fundraising campaigns. You will also support the Director of Fundraising and Engagement in other fund raising activities. Principal Tasks and Responsibilities: 1. Management of the Kiss Goodbye to MS international fundraising campaign. 2. Manage our evolving DIY fundraising offerings to add new events, maintain & grow our audience, and increase income. 3. Support development and implementation of Global Fundraising Strategy for 2017 to 2021. 4. Other duties. 1. Management of the Kiss Goodbye to MS fundraising campaign Developing new creative ideas, tools and resources for growing the campaign. Managing the campaign and PR budget. Working with MS societies around the world to secure global ambassadors. Manage Kiss Goodbye to MS social media channels. Support members around the world to support national-level implementation of the campaign. Achieving campaign growth targets. 2. Manage our evolving DIY fundraising offerings to add new events, maintain & grow our audience, and increase income Evaluate, evolve and market our DIY fundraising events and resources. Maintain and motivate existing fundraisers and grow our audience of new fundraisers. Work with Director of Fundraising to develop an exciting new cycling event, in partnership with the Danish MS Society. Develop new ideas and channels. 3
3. Support development and implementation of Global Fundraising Strategy for 2017 to 2021 In conjunction with the Director of Fundraising & Engagement support the development, implementation and monitoring of the Global Fundraising Strategy. 4. In relation to all tasks and responsibilities Ensure that all fundraising messages are consistent with MSIF s key messages. Ensure that MSIF delivers on all its commitments to funders. 5. Other duties Work closely with and support the Director of Fundraising & Engagement. Help ensure that all MSIF secretariat staff members engage with the fundraising process for their specific project/programme of work. Work with fundraising professionals within MSIF member societies across the MSIF movement to develop a network that delivers successful member-society and MSIF funding. Other duties as required as part of role. The MSIF secretariat is small, with thirteen full time members of staff. Often staff members are expected to work together and support each other in their respective endeavours. No MSIF post holders have an assistant or secretary. All members of staff are expected to self-service. 4
Person specification Essential Knowledge and understanding of peer-to-peer and/or event fundraising, ideally internationally. A demonstrable track record of success in peer-to-peer campaigns and/or event fundraising. Minimum 3 years experience. Experience of developing new fundraising ideas. Excellent written and oral communications skills, able to present complex and technical information in simple language. A self-starter who is able to take a hands-on approach. Creative thinker. An efficient and methodical organiser. Flexible and cooperative team player. Able to build relationships, inspire, influence and collaborate with stakeholders from different backgrounds and cultures. A world view and understanding of diverse cultures. Prepared to travel internationally occasionally. Fluent spoken and written English. Desirable Experience of fundraising in different countries. Experience of managing budgets. Experience of managing or using fundraising/supporter software. Other language(s). Understanding of MS and its effects. Experience or understanding of working in an international organisation. 5
