1 FORT WORTH FILM COMMISSION A Proposal 1
2 MISSION Attract production of film, television, video, advertising, games, emerging media and more. Showcase Fort Worth to the world and boost economic development, tourism and awareness of the city. Build on Fort Worth s reputation as a leader in the arts with new focus on the moving picture. 2
3 CHALLENGE: Why Fort Worth needs a film commission TRANSPORTATION & PUBLIC WORKS DEPT. permits & production right-of-way LAW ENFORCEMENT & FIRST RESPONDERS PARKS, LANDMARKS, CULTURE & COMMUNITY LOCAL PRODUCTION SERVICES & TALENT production companies, material, labor, talent local PDs, sheriff s department, fire, EMS public or protected locations & cultural centers & private locations LOCAL PRODUCTION SUPPORT & HOSPITALITY travel, hotels, dining & catering, transportation OFFICE OF MAYOR & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Lack of a streamlining commission discourages productions from spending in Fort Worth. Productions currently have only two options: (1) waste valuable time and money navigating the process themselves, or (2) turn to the Dallas Film Commission, which currently serves the entire north Texas region.??? NO TURN-KEY FORT WORTH OPTION??? DFW PRODUCTION 3 DALLAS FILM COMMISSION TEXAS FILM COMMISSION tax and production incentives Of the $322.5 million, ($1.26 million per day) in economic benefits generated by local productions (Dallas Film Commission 2013 report), Fort Worth saw only 2 productions (Texas Film Commission) compared to Dallas 522 projects logged (Dallas Film Commission 2013 report).
4 CHALLENGE No single point of contact, resource or champion. Losing valuable economic benefits to Dallas and other Texas cities. Lack of streamlining discourages productions from choosing Fort Worth. 4
