4 Regional Workforce Leadership Council (RWLC) The Dallas/Fort Worth Regional Workforce Leadership Council (RWLC) formed in 2002 is the driving force for a cooperative approach to promoting the region s strongest industries. The RWLC works to meet industries needs through the collaboration of the Dallas, North Central Texas and Tarrant County local workforce boards, chambers of commerce and industry leaders. By addressing the employment, training, and certification needs of the region s industries, the RWLC aids in the further growth and success of the Dallas/Fort Worth economy. The defense industry is a major economic driver of the DFW economy and Tarrant County leads that consortium. Collectively, the three major aerospace companies bring millions of dollars annually into the region. Lockheed Martin serves as business representation on the Regional Workforce Leadership Council.

7 Advantages to Partnering with local Business In kind support on industry training Connection with education partners- Career and Technology Director s Advisory Talent pipeline study- an analysis of workforce supply and demand in Aerospace and Aviation industry Lockheed Martin and Aerospace consortium businesses funded the creation and implementation of the FLYBY DFW app Bell Helicopter hosted a series of Thank you events for area High School students who beta tested the FLYBY DFW app

8 Accomplishments Gotta Jet promotional/outreach program targeting students, parents and counselors. Reached over 50,000 students, parents and educators through brochures, DVD s and marketing material. Consortium awarded H1-B Technical Skills Training Grant, Engineer Job Connect from the Department of Labor which provided reimbursement funds to companies hiring Engineers. The funds help to offset the extraordinary cost of On-the-Job training for newly hired engineers and to place unemployed engineers in industries such as Aerospace in the Dallas/Fort Worth region Lockheed Martin hired 222 Engineers through this grant 406 Engineers were hired in over 45 companies The average salary range per participant was $65,353 Lockheed Martin was a key partner in the development and implementation of the Aerospace Manufacturing Training Program (AMTP) for entry level workers 6 week industry driven training 240 hours Students received hands on and classroom instruction in basic manufacturing and assembly skills including engineering drawings, hand tools, machining and composite bonding.

9 Aerospace Gamification Name of App: FLYBY DFW Generate middle and high school student interest in Aerospace and Aviation Careers Free downloadable app from Android and Apple itunes stores Developed by The University of Texas at Arlington Launched at the Fort Worth Alliance Air Show in October 2016 Featured Aircraft: Lockheed Martin s F35 and C130J Bell Helicopter s V280 Airbus Helicopter s H155 and EC225 An Aircraft character in game was developed by high school students to allow them to learn game development and design by creating mobile games (SEED Program with UTA) Beta testing by students in Arlington, Birdville, Fort Worth and Northwest Independent School districts Career and Technology students (CTE)
