The workshop consists of three days of classroom lecture, interactive discussion groups and hands on cattle work. Subjects will include: Diagnosis and the organic treatment of common cattle diseases like mastitis, pneumonia and parasites. Practical, hands on techniques such as; calf deliveries, uterine infusion, oral and intravenous (IV) fluid therapy, rolling a cow for displaced abomasum (DA). Treatments using conventional medicines (that are allowed for organic production), herbal preparations, homeopathy and acupuncture will also be covered. Disease prevention is stressed; optimal health that is achieved through the building of healthy soil, high forage diets, balanced nutrition and good management, and more.
