They appraise the work done by the students, and they advise them on the methodological, bibliographic aspects and so on. Examples of work placements Development of a public policy of the integrated food supply at the territory level via a global diagnosis of the territory, the "urban area" and its likely evolution. Institutional innovations in linking sustainable practices with markets. The mission lasts over 5 months; the viva takes place in October. These missions prepare effectively the students for their future occupational integration. They represent also an opportunity for them to widen their professional networks. Characterization of innovations in Swiss plant production.
9 Tutorial gap year The Montpellier SupAgro Teachers' Board on 10 July 1998 decided to allow the students to perform a tutorial gap year between the 2nd and the 3rd year. At the end of this tutorial gap year, the student obtains a diploma awarded by Montpellier SupAgro, the Certificate of Graduate Studies in Agricultural Sciences (CESA). Thus, the student will keep the student status (social coverage + agreed and tutored work placements). Students can as well follow a training course, a work placement, a mission... outside Montpellier SupAgro while remaining enrolled. Clearly differentiated from the sabbatical year this period allows students to verify thanks to this experience their choice of orientation and/or their professional project and take advantage to the best of the year of specialization coming next. The Tutorial Gap Year is carried out in a regulated framework. The student is supervised by a teacher-researcher or researcher who is the guarantor of the qualification of the tutorial gap year in accepting the tutoring of this particular phase of training. This gap year make the realisation of internship possible all through the year.
