An advanced microarray design and novel chemiluminescence signaling chemistry contribute to the enhanced performance of the system. Chemiluminescence technology requires no excitation and results in very low background noise; it dramatically improves signal-to-noise values, and enables low-level detection not achievable using other array configurations. Applied Biosystem Genome Survey Microarray In addition to quality-assured probes for targeted genes, each Genome Survey Microarray includes extensive control features for setup, analysis, diagnostics, and monitoring of chemiluminescent reactions, hybridization, and labeling performance. Corresponding TaqMan Gene Expression Assays are available for each of the targeted genes. In addition, the Genome Survey Microarray uses 60-mer DNA probes for the optimum combination of sensitivity and specificity. This permits the single-base hybridization specificity of shorter oligonucleotides, without the decreased sensitivity commonly encountered when using shorter probes. Applied Biosystems amplified labeling kits (based on industry-standard Eberwine protocols) and detection kit let you interrogate the complete genome from just 500 ng (sample quality dependent) of total RNA, allowing sparing use of valuable tissue and cell culture samples. For those applications that are not sample-limited, a convenient, non-amplifying labeling chemistry is also available. Powerful database management built into the system. A powerful Oracle relational database is included with the Expression Array System to help you manage the millions of data points produced over the course of a microarray gene expression project. Applied Biosystems chemiluminescence labeling kits for RT and RT-in vitro transcription (RT-IVT) optimize incorporation of label into your target sequence. Designed specifically for the Expression Array System, these kits accommodate a wide range of sample sizes, from just 500 ng to 40 µg of total RNA. The Applied Biosystems Chemiluminescence Detection Kit uses robust chemistry to report the hybridization of labeled cdna or crna to probes on the microarray. TaqMan Gene Expression Assays Once you identify genes that are differentially expressed, it s easy to move your research to conclusion using TaqMan Gene Expression Assays and Real-time PCR Systems from Applied Biosystems. Microarray results link to TaqMan -based assays for every gene, so you can validate your microarray results, obtain absolute quantitation of transcript production, and investigate the role of alternative splice variations.

Each probe is associated with a gene sequence built on unique Celera data and validated public RefSeqs that have been rigorously curated by an expert scientific team. The Expression Array System includes a continually updated, searchable Oracle database that enables annotation of microarray data with the latest genomic information. Resident software allows queries of the gene expression data based on this annotation to produce a filtered gene list.
