4 NEB overview Created in 1959, it currently regulates: the construction, operation, and abandonment of international and interprovincial pipelines, as well as the related pipeline tolls and tariffs the construction and operation of international power lines and designated inter-provincial power lines imports of natural gas and exports of crude oil, natural gas liquids, natural gas, refined petroleum products, and electricity oil and gas exploration and production activities in specified areas that are not regulated under joint federal/provincial accords
