1 CONFIGURING TECHNICAL AVAILABILITY MONITORING FOR SAP MOBILE PLATFORM 3 PREREQUISITES - SAP Solution Manager 7.1 SP10 - SAP Mobile Platform 3.0 SP03 - LMDB Information maintained - Principal configuration in Technical Monitoring Configuration has been performed as described in the SAP Documentation available on help.sap.com. DEFINING A CUSTOM MONITORING TEMPLATE 1. Start the SAP Solution Manager Configuration Workcenter and select Technical Monitoring 2. Select the Guided Procedure Step Template Maintenance and press Edit 3. From Templates select Generic Product version from the Technical Instance sub tree. This allows for later delivery of content by SAP without overwriting your own definitions. 4. Select Create Custom Template 5. Maintain the Template Name and select the Metric Tab.

When you press Save you will be asked for a package assignment which is relevant If you want to transport the definitions e.g. from your SAP Solution Manager development system to test system or productive system. If you want to keep the definition locally select local object 7. The next section will show how you define the Availability Metric
3 DEFINING THE AVAILABILITY METRIC FOR THE SMP 3 NODES 1. Select Create Metric as shown below 2. In the metric wizard begin with defining the metric for ProxyService Availability (three other metrics will need to be maintained in an identical way) 3. Maintain the values following the Parameters given in the following table: Admin Service Agentry Service Notification Service Proxy Service Name AdminService Availability AgentryService NotificationService ProxyService Availability Availability Availability Category Availability Availability Availability Availability Class Metric Metric Metric Metric Data type String String String String 4. Switch to the Data Collection tab and maintain the necessary data

Go to the Next Step in the wizard, you will need to maintain a Metric Name for the metric. Make sure it starts with Z In the example the following Metric Names are chosen:
5 Admin Service Agentry Service Notification Service Proxy Service Metric Name ZADM_AVAIL ZAGTY_AVAIL ZNOTIF_AVAIL ZPXY_AVAIL Now the assignments to alerts will show. Select Finish for now. 6. Repeat this for the Admin Service, Agentry Service and Notification Service in the same manner with the corresponding values from the tables. 7. Press Save. 8. Next maintain the text thresholds as shown in the table for the 4 metrics as shown in the picture below. Use Add Entry to create two thresholds for the Availability check. Save after entering your changes. 6 9. Analog to Creating the metrics create an alert which will be assigned to all 4 metrics.
7 10. Press Save to save the Alert definition. ASSIGNING THE TEMPLATE TO THE SYSTEM Now that the template is defined the next step is to assign this template to the technical instances (server nodes) of the SMP 3 System. 1. Select Define Scope
8 2. From the list select your SMP System and Select Setup Monitoring, use the link Assign Templates to assign the newly created templates from the previous steps to the instances/server nodes of the selected system. 3. Apply and Activate all assigned templates. Lastly the user and password for the authentication to the SMP server need to be maintained in the diagnostics agents assigned to the SMP server nodes. MAINTAINING USER AND PASSWORD IN THE ASSIGNED DIAGNOSTICS AGENTS 1. Start the Solution Manager Administration Workcenter and navigate to the Agent Administration under Infrastructure Framework Agent Framework. 2. Select the Agent Applications Tab and select com.sap.smd.agent.application.global.configuration in the left pane 3. Select the Agent assigned to the SMP Server node from the Scope dropdown list as shown in the picture.
9 4. Press Edit and use Add Property to add the following two properties to the configuration Name Custom Value $T_/sapj2ee/com/user <user id for SMP allowed to call systemavailability> $T_/sapj2ee/com/pwd <password assigned to the user> 5. Save the data
