6 Common Data Set (CDS)- Recap What is the CDS? It is a set of standard data items and definitions that will be collected by all participating PACE Organizations and submitted to NPA in compliance with protocols to which all stakeholders have agreed. Developed by NPA under the guidance of PACE professionals from different disciplines Data elements in the PACE organization s usual operations have been included Data elements in existing assessment tools have been included while taking care to retain their integrity Data elements to generate measures mandated by Econometrica Incorporated Component I CDS I - about 100 elements of assessment and demographic data Component II CDS II - about 60 elements of service and utilization data

9 History of DataPACE

10 1990 DataPACE (1 st Generation) CMS mandates PACE organization data collection and submission The original DataPACE was initiated in 1990 as a locally installed software-based product

11 2006 DataPACE2 (2 nd Generation) New data collection was developed by the PACE Data Management Steering Committee in 2006 DP2 was an internet-based service which was available to all PACE organizations (POs) as part of their NPA membership

13 DataPACE2 Limitations DataPACE2 (DP2) produced benchmarking reports based on a few pre-set measures from 2006 Need for an improved system offering increased flexibility to customize reports in support of membership and advocacy needs Collection of new data elements as PACE needs evolve

14 PACE Data Environment Needs Create a platform to comply with a growing range of CMS (Econometrica) & state agency data and benchmarking mandates Generate standard indicators to measure and compare POs performance and implement required modifications Support POs with internal quality improvement programs & create channels for POs to share effective practices Accurately describe and compare PACE enrollees to other populations to understand the participant profile best served by PACE Support NPA advocacy efforts and research activities

15 Operational Needs Over Time The system needs to be adaptable to changes in data requirements and the changing needs of PACE The system needs to be easily updatable and upgradeable NPA needs to own the software solution for continuity of service

17 2017 DataPACE3 (3 rd Generation) DataPACE3 takes a completely different approach than DataPACE2 in that it is a modular best in breed strategy DataPACE3 is a web based service that is available to all PACE organizations as part of their NPA membership, as it has been in the past

18 2017 DataPACE3 (3 rd Generation) DataPACE3 (DP3) was launched in July 2017 and is solely owned, supported, and operated by NPA. Since DP3 is a Web application, it requires no installation by the PACE organization. DP3 has cross-browser support, so you may use your preferred browser for access.

27 Warehouse Redesign Overview of process for program EMR data Member programs upload data files to web application NPA performs extensive QA checks of the data prior to storage in Data Warehouse Clean data is stored in Data Warehouse Program data is integrated with many other data sources NPA provides benchmarking reports to member programs The new Data Warehouse will provide extended capabilities for NPA to incorporate even more data sources and perform new types of data analysis for the benefit of member programs.
