1 Newsletter Brakel, October 2015 Dear customer, First of all I like to thank you, our customers, for the trust you put in our solutions, services and our company. It s really miraculous to see the long lasting loyalty of you for which we are very thankful. We hope to serve you all for a long time still to come. In 2014 Holland House realized a sound growth towards sales revenues and nett results. The expectations for 2015 are even better. Based on the developments of the last months Holland House will grow with 25% sales revenue. This is all due to the fact that our customer base is spread all over the world and the customers more and more use both our output- and print management solutions UniSpool and PrinTaurus for their UNIX/LINUX and MS systems and several of them choose for 24/7 support. Especially customers with worldwide operations ask for this kind of support. We are also very proud to mention that in February 2015 we won the prestigious DCM AWARD in The Netherlands for these two solutions. A professional jury said: UniSpool and PrinTaurus are not only very stable solutions but they also realize a greater continuity for business operations and save a lot of money in system management. (In 2013 we also won a DCM AWARD with our Document Management system IntraOffice!) New developments and support Holland House invests every year between percent of the sales revenues on improvements of the software solution and intends to do that also for the next coming years. The roadmap shows exiting new functionalities. 2 Air Liquide Barcode printing with UniSpool In the past, well actually not that long ago, if you wanted to print a document containing barcodes on a laser printer, you would have to acquire a DIMM with a barcode font and install that in the printer. Your application would create a print datastream with PCL codes to instruct the printer to print some data using the barcode font, embedded in the DIMM. This works fine, but what if you decide to purchase printers of a different brand? Does your new printer support the DIMM you already have, and maybe more important do you still want to use this solution, which creates an additional layer of complexity, especially if your printers are located in different countries? This was exactly the situation which our customer Air Liquide in France faced. They decided to explore other possibilities and asked us if there would be different ways to solve this issue. One of the constraints was that the solution should not require any changes to the existing applications, in their particular case the forms defined in SAP. We found an elegant solution to support barcode printing for any printer that supports PCL 5. Barcode printing with UniSpool The solution consists of the PrinTaurus barcode printing module, embedded in a UniSpool control procedure. When a print request is ready to be printed it is read by the UniSpool driver, and through the control procedure passed to the barcode printing module. This module checks the input stream for PCL sequences to print barcodes, if such a sequence is found it is replaced by PCL commands to draw the barcode at the correct location. The resulting stream is then sent to the printer by UniSpool. This works for virtually any type of barcode, and most important of all it does not require any modification in the application programs producing the documents with the barcodes. After a successful testing period the solution was implemented on several servers at Air Liquide delivering barcode print-outs to printers all over Europe.

3 Secure and convenient printing from the SAP System at REHAU The leading system and service provider of polymer-based solutions, REHAU AG + Co. uses the output management solution UniSpool and PrinTaurus of AKI for the central administration of the printing environment and for barcode printing. Printers are important for REHAU, especially for production control, for example to print delivery notes, cargo and loading lists. The company is working for the automotive industry and has just-in-time and just-in-sequence supply, so latencies are very close. REHAU was looking for a spooling system, which copes with the spool output from the different source systems: Mainframe, Windows, UNIX and SAP. That is also distinguished by an easy-to-use interface for monitoring and definition of printers and supports the conversion of print files to PDF and the subsequent delivery by . In a selection process, the print manage ment solution UniSpool from Holland House and PrinTaurus from AKI convinced. The implementation of the solution went smoothly, recalls Dieter Kochut, Senior Engineer Corporate IT-Infrastructure at REHAU. The IT expert particularly likes the options for printing from SAP. I can spread printer settings in an entire landscape on a mouse click and a few adjustments with PrinTaurus of AKI. This saves an awful lot of work. In addition, REHAU uses special scripts for UniSpool to control if a customer receives a hard copy or an with a PDF attachment. With that UniSpool has become for us a central data hub. The module works really excellent; every day thousands of s are generated and sent, summarizes Kochut. With the automated conversion of hard copies towards PDF attachments REHAU was able to save several thousand printed pages per month. Thus, the AKI solutions has paid off very quickly. Today REHAU manages her entire print output from the various systems with the AKI solutions UniSpool and PrinTaurus. In the operation UniSpool and PrinTaurus have become indispensable, especially within the print management of our SAP environment. DCM Award for UniSpool/PrinTaurus In The Netherlands, in February 2015, in front of an audience of 180 professionals Holland House won the prestigious DCM Award with her UniSpool/PrinTaurus solution. The jury wrote, amongst others: The solution is very stable and profitable for customers because it delivers efficiency, business continuity and on top of that cost savings. This is the second time in three years that one of the business units of the Solipsis Group, Solipsis Document Management, won a DCM Award. Module Digital Signature The digital signature is replacing rapidly the handwritten signature. European legislation surrounding the digital signature allows to sign a legal agreement without the intervention of pen and paper. However, there are conditions attached to this method. A photo or a signature image (eg JPG file) attached in a document is widely used, but not valid. It needs more to make a digital signature valid. IntraOffice provides a solution to this. Contracts can quickly and simply be digitally signed via PC, laptop or smartphone. Signatories are invited to sign in a secure portal of IntraOffice to sign documents. The applying of the digital signature has major benefits. The handling processes are made much easier and it generates considerable time savings. A business case with digital signing results in savings up to as much as 65%, because manual intervention has become unnecessary and printing and postage costs will disappear. Module IntraOffice Archive Always online acces to documents and information? IntraOffice Archive is the solution for all, through the Internet, secure access to all your documents and information. Characteristic of this module is the manner in which IntraOffice is able to store large amounts of documents and makes them available in high speed to large numbers of users in a save way. It s the most modern portal technology applied which makes you work device independently. For companies working with privacy-sensitive documents and information there is per January 1, 2016 tightened legislation under the Data Protection Act. Certification involves proving how we handle customer data, how our security policies and practices are and dictates how we handle matters such as physical security, legal adherence and technical controls. Certification also means proving that we comply with legal standards and it also involves the technology and equipment used to assure the security of data, such as firewalls, antimalware software and other control measures. Your ISO partner According to top cloud Service & Solution Providers, the number one thing customers are looking for is transparency. Customers want to know where their data is going to be kept, how it s stored, managed, and secured and who is responsible for managing and securing their data. 6 Roadmap - UniSpool 6.30 configuration changes As part of the roadmap the UniSpool configuration gets a major overhaul in the upcoming 6.30 release. In the current version UniSpool supports one so called cluster, this is the pool in which all printers participate. Drawbacks of this approach are that every user can potentially print on any printer in the organization, and that administration becomes increasingly more difficult if more printers are added to the environment. Print Service Providers UniSpool 6.30 addresses this issue by giving the opportunity to group printers together in smaller, more manageable units, such a group is now called a Print Service Provider. A Print Service Provider consists of two lists, a list of printers and a list of systems on which these printers must be available. How these Print Service Providers are configured can be decided by the administrator. Arranging printers into Print Service Providers by geographical location or by business unit or division seem logical choices. The list of systems, part of the Print Server Provider, designates the systems on which the printers in the PSP are available, these systems are called the Print Service Consumers. A print server is assigned to each PSP. This server handles the physical printing, the server may or may not be a member of the Print Service Consumers list in the PSP. The other systems in the PSP, other than the Server, will forward their print output to the server, which takes care of the printing. It is possible to assign one server to multiple PSP s. Server assignment For failover purposes it is possible to dynamically assign a PSP to a different server, this means that if the original server is unavailable, printing continues via the newly assigned server. This server assignment can be done automatically, if the UniSpool system notices that the server is no longer available. Or manually, for example in a situation where the server must be brought down for scheduled maintenance. Access Administration of the environment can be done at the Print Service Provider level, so an administrator for one PSP will not have access to printers or print requests in other PSP s. For an administrator of a print server it will still be possible to manage all printers and print requests related to all PSP s running on the server. Easier integration Control procedures and profiles become integral parts of the configuration information, eliminating the necessity to manually copy this information to all systems in the environment. The configuration will be stored in XML format, allowing easier integration of new attributes. New attributes are available to track when which user made which configuration change.
