Information is filtered, summarized and got rid of the redundant details on each level of choice process. 7 PROTAGON PRODUCTS CONNECTED TO SAS SYSTEM More than 2000 modules of basic software DIALOG (under MS-DOS, OS/2, UNIX /XENIX, AIX, WINDOWS ) has been installed in the Slovak and Czech republic. Products are being developed by PROTAGON informatika, s.r.o., Bratislava within the framework of an established, updated and maintained developmental environment of quality and control of company SIMULTAN AG, Altishofen, which was granted, on December 29, 1994, the SS ISO 9001 Certificate, scope No 33, registration No of the Swiss Association for uality and Control Systems (SS). We are presenting the Protagon Business Solution in a form of snapshots of the version made for KAU UK, a.s., Kralupy nad Vltavou, a leading petrochemical concern in Czech republic. KAU UK runs the data distributed on different type of data bases (one of them is DIALOG.) All the data are fictive.

8 IMPLEMENTATION Protagon Business Solution consists of three levels: Processing real-time data assets concerning personnel and human resources of the company and its organizational charts; Customers, Sales and Dealers Analysis allows flexible view on the analyzed data model from the different standpoints such as geography, time, type, finances,... e.g. the time hierarchy can be the year, quarter, month, week, day, day-time, hour, minute,. Information and communication provides connections with world and customers. It selects and files required world news, financial market news and information on competitors;

The multi-dimensional on-line analytical processing approach involves building of a further data structure beyond the more standard database tables to offer high-performance with fast retrieval and query processing, and with entirely numeric and highly summarized data to satisfy further consolidation and reporting.

10 SALES ANALYSIS The Boston matrix allows to represent four independent dimension on the two dimensional medium. In that case, the variable CURRENT SALES is associated to the horizontal axe, the variable PLANNED SALES is associated to the vertical axe. Both the values determine the position of a circle, whose radius is proportional to the value of the DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CURRENT AND PLANNED SALES. The color of circle is the value of the range defined for the DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CURRENT AND ESTIMATED SALES. The emptiness of circle determines the minus sign. The left upper or right lower quadrate signalizes the possible excess of the desired state. Under such conditions the circle requires further detailed sales analysis.

11 SALES ANALYSIS An instance of navigation across the multidimensional data model represents the data related to sales analysis in graphic and numerical mode. Applying the given number of available parameters in action requestors, it is possible to produce a wide variety of instances. Conclusion Advantages arising from the previously mentioned approach include the possibility of empowering business experts; ensuring confidence in information; integrating existing applications and new technology; reducing manpower requirement; while growing the business. Moreover the solution can be adapted even better to the needs of a specific environment.
