3 Business Challenge The Welspun Pipes sales organization was unable to access critical information while interfacing with customers in the field. The sales leadership team recognized the lost opportunities to engage its customers with a more meaningful and informed dialogue, wherever they were located. The field sales team required information at their fingertips and could not wait until they were back in the office to confirm the status of a critical shipment. The Welspun Pipes sales organization approached its IT partners in search of an extension to their current SAP BW reporting system one that provided a common, integrated and mobile view of information to run and drive the business forward. JDSOFT and Welspun reshaped the SAP Business Warehouse semantic layer (Multi-providers and BEX queries) then built out the necessary SAP BusinessObjects IDT connections, Web Intelligence Reports, Explorer Information Spaces and Mobile Intelligence folders. The reporting environment was configured to support efficient updates and easy manipulation of report attributes inside a self-service portal. The technologies leveraged for the solution included: SAP Business Warehouse 7.0, SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.0, SAP BusinessObjects Mobile Intelligence, SAP BusinessObjects Explorer 4.0 (Mobile), Apple ipad and iphone At the end of the 8 week project, JDSOFT was able to deliver productive SAP Mobile Intelligence and Explorer solutions that support field sales representatives in Indian and Middle Eastern regions. The JDSOFT team provided Welspun with best practices and standards documentation to support future company-led SAP BusinessObjects Mobile implementations.
