Innovation & Collaboration A launch pad for new ideas Technology and big data will play a huge role in helping stakeholders access the information they need to make better business and policy decisions Better decision making requires information that is accurate, verifiable, and based on global standards and best practices to ensure the comparability and usability of that data

Transition to GRI Standards Overview
Transition to Standards what is it? The G4 Guidelines and Implementation Manual are being restructured into a set of modular, interrelated reporting standards Most changes focus on format and presentation the main content, concepts, and disclosures from G4 will carry through Standards are developed by the Global Sustainability Standards Board (GSSB), GRI s independent standard-setting body G4 Guidelines and G4 Implementation Manual Set of modular GRI Standards
Why transition to Standards? Moving to Standards will: allow Standards to be revised independently, so they stay even more up-to-date easily accommodate new sustainability topics in the future make the Standards more accessible for new and existing reporters support more consistent and higher-quality reporting allow the GRI Standards to be referenced even more broadly in policy initiatives 44
How to use and reference the Standards In accordance reports The GRI Standards are designed primarily to be used together to prepare a sustainability report in accordance with the Standards The Core and Comprehensive in accordance options from G4 will continue, with minor adjustments due to the new structure Other uses of the Standards Organizations can also use individual GRI Standards or their content to report specific sustainability information (this is called an SRSreferenced claim) All use of the Standards requires a specific claim statement in published materials (more information in SRS:101 Foundation) 45
Overview of changes and improvements 1. New modular structure 2. Clarifications on how to use and reference the Standards 3. Clearer distinction between requirements, recommendations and guidance 4. Additional clarifications for G4 concepts 5. Overall editing review to improve usability Simpler language Some content merged or relocated 46
More about the new modular structure 3 universal standards applicable to all 33 (estimated) topicspecific Standards, based on G4 Aspects Organizations will select only the topic-specific Standards that are applicable, based on material topics Individual standards for each G4 Aspect, organized into 3 series (Economic, Environmental, and Social)
Anticipated timeline October 2016 Standards expected to be released October onwards GRI develops new training, webinars, and detailed mapping documents Now 17 July Public comment period closes January 2018 Standards proposed to be required for all reports published on or after 1 st January (G4 remains in effect until this date) 48
How can you give feedback? Public comment period from 19 April 17 July Online consultation platform Available for comment now through 17 July Webinars and selected inperson workshops More information on GRI Standards webpage 49
