5 F-100 Collaboration Legacy In the early 80s, eight NATO navies agreed that a common maritime weapon system would be possible despite their different requirements and ideas The Spanish embarked on the F-100 Frigate program after selecting the AEGIS Combat System as the basis This successful trans-atlantic collaboration was an enabler for a fiveship AEGIS Frigate Program for Norway and formed the basis for a fifth Spanish AEGIS Frigate Collaborative discussions are underway for future international AEGIS opportunities and a future Frigate for Spain NFR 90 Concept evolution F-100 Collaboration Has Been an Enabler for Follow-on Spanish and International Programs The Legacy Continues F-100 Brief: NATO Industry Day Page 5
