1 Hello, 2016 is well underway so we thought this would be a great opportunity to provide you with a SEC update. This will be the first or our new look quarterly newsletters. In this edition we ll reflect on the procurement activity which took place in 2015 and our plans for We'll introduce our 3 new additions to the team and tell you about how we plan reinvigorate our Membership Services offer. We'll also tell you more about the exciting future of SEC and how as Members you will benefit from our services. We ll make sure you get the maximum from these discounted, and in the case of the majority free events. And, tell you more about the exciting future of SEC and how as Members you ll benefit from this. 2 Since our last newsletter there have been three staff changes. Marc Baines took over from Misia Carroll as Managing Director back in September. Marc has a social housing background having previously worked for Moat and most recently AmicusHorizon, both Consortium members. Finally, Chris Monk joins as Membership Services Manager. Chris comes from a not for profit service provider to Local Authorities and Housing Associations. Ashley John is our new Head of Procurement and has 12 years experience in the public sector working with a number of Contracting Authorities, ranging from County Councils to London Borough's and not for profit organisations. A warm welcome to our newest member, Wandle, who own and manage over 7,000 homes across nine south London boroughs.

3 Some of our older frameworks were coming to an end and we also started to look at new products to tender. We ve succeeded in awarding five frameworks, offering a wide choice of specialist contractors and attractive rates. Details of the frameworks are below and they are already generating interest amongst both SEC members and nonmembers. Electronic Payment Services Framework a new product for SEC. The two main suppliers of this service Allpay and the Co-operative Bank were appointed, offering a fully managed service through multiple networks. Heating and Property Efficiency - covering Domestic Heating, Commercial Heating, Water Hygiene Services, Boiler Supply, Renewables and Insulation Internal and External Building Works covering Major Refurbishments, Kitchens and Bathrooms, Windows and Doors, Roofing, Electrical Works, and cyclical decorations. Access Control Systems covering Door Entry Systems, Fire & Intruder Alarms and Emergency Lighting, Warden Call Systems and TV Aerials. Lifts covering passenger and mobility lifts. Going forward into 2016, we are already looking at our replacement New Build and Asbestos Inspections frameworks, and, through listening to our members and service providers, are keen to explore other potential framework opportunities such as Legal Services, Valuations, Property Security and Estate Services. 5 SEC recently teamed up with DATRIX Training to secure impressively low prices, up to 60% off of market rate, for PRINCE2 training. PRINCE2 stands for Projects in Controlled Environments. The course s techniques detail growth of high level management, organisation and control of a project. Focus on water safety... Managing risks in all their guises across a housing portfolio is getting more complex. Recent changes in guidance (the introduction of HSG274) contained a categorical statement on housing for the first time, meaning that the housing sector needs to consider water safety more closely. Thankfully, there have been few major failures in recent years but the memories of fatal outbreaks of Legionnaires disease provide ample warning of the awful consequences of poorly maintained systems. Lakehouse s water safety specialist, H2O Nationwide, is working with some large residential landlords on testing programmes. At this early stage, it can just be a percentage stock sample but this is expected to increase to rolling programmes assessing all stock in the coming years. These are positive steps for landlords who want to stay compliant and improve safety for residents.
