6 Custom designed to suit a client's individual specifications The type of expansion joints is chosen based on the important criteria which affect the selection of the materials and its engineering design: Ambient conditions, Dust loading and velocity, Moisture content, condensation and washing, Movement, Noise, Pressure, Temperature and Tolerances. 7 Materials The materials selection for Fabric Expansion Joints is a critical factor in the successful design and construction of each product. The materials are chosen based on the important criteria and operating conditions of the installation: chemical resistance, temperature limitations, abrasion resistance, tensile strength and susceptibility to vibration or movements are major considerations when selecting materials and designs of fabric expansion joints. The construction of Fabric Expansion Joints is generally made of several layers, those necessary for controlling the operating conditions. Insulation layers are necessary if the temperature of the media is higher than the maximum allowable sustained temperature of the sealing layers.
