13 Another option is to have the 140mm grooved face to the front, this larger "brick" effect front is more suitable for creating a wall or fence by building single timbers up on top of each other to create any height wall/fence that you require. A further option is to have the timbers grooved all round, so every face shows the brick effect grooves. The timbers are fixed together with a timberlock system without any need for pre-drilling, available in two lengths. Also available is a Hex Head bit for use with power tools. 6 Please note: Some timber products will take a while to dry out after the Jakcure process and natural shrinkage can occur. 15 An impressive walkway that joins the garden with house is another novel use for deck and balustrade. The plain boards make an ideal setting for showing colourful plants to great effect. Decking is the perfect solution to sloping sites or for terracing. A customised and comfortable area that is neither house nor garden, but an enjoyable combination of both. All timber decking is likely to become slippery when wet or in situations where standing water is present. While our decking boards feature deep grooves to disperse water, you should exercise caution when the surface is wet. Periodic cleaning to remove moss and lichen will reduce the risk of slipping. 18 decking and balustrade 1 Balustrade is available in the following two styles, all come pre-assembled, supplied in a natural Jakcure finish (unpainted) with a finished height of 1.06m in three standard widths: 1.2, 1.5 and 1.8m. Both systems slot neatly into Jakposts, either 1.06m high for normal balustrade, or 2.1m if a pergola is to be installed above the deck. (See pages 8 & 9 for Jakposts or for pergola topping see pages 40-42). 20 jak-deck kits Here s a quick and easy way to create a deck wherever you want one. Jak-Deck kits are available in three sizes: 1.8 x 1.8m, 1.8 x 3.6m and 3.6 x 3.6m. These can be assembled easily and used on their own, or joined together to create whichever configuration you might want. To assemble, first ensure you have a reasonably level working area. Lay out five joists in the direction of where you want the deck boards to run. Place three Joists on top, one at each end, and one in the centre. Slot the notches into each other, and then fix with one 90mm screw in each joint. Measure diagonally one corner to the other on the frame, making sure it is square. Once the frame is square place the remaining joists into position by slotting the notches together, and then fasten with screws. 58 secret garden collection ALL PRICES EXCLUDE VAT

21 edge boards should be attached first then the first deck board should be flush with the edge, with no overhang 100mm = gap between boards plus width of one board Take one decking board and cut it to 1750mm, or 3550mm, depending on which size deck you have chosen. Fix it as an edge board to the joist with 60 x 5mm decking screw. Fix the longer edged board into position in the same way. Lay the first decking board into position make sure it is in line with the edge board, and allow no overhang. Fix with 2 x 60 x 5mm decking screws into each board, and the joists below. To align the second board with the first, measure 100mm from the edge of the first board to the second, and fix in the same way as the first board. Continue across the whole deck with the last board finishing flush with the edge board with no overhang. The boards should appear evenly spaced when the timber shrinks as it dries out.
