3 Official Warranty Our Optimum Attic Roof Ventilator is guaranteed for life against defects that could affect the quality of the product. We can offer this peace of mind to all our customers because most of our products are CSA approved under certificate With our non- standard models, the same quality standard are applied in compliance with CSA standards. This means that throughout life the resident owns the house where the ventilator is installed Optimum, Optimum Ventilation agrees to rehabilitate or replace operating it free for the first five years or by subsequently, in proportion to the years of use, against defects. It is understood that in such a case, the costs of transportation and installation shall be assume by the customer and all home repairs. This warranty applies in any case where the Optimum ventilator has been installed as recommended and has been free from abuse, misuse or any other circumstances beyond the control of Optimum Ventilation including salty air. Warranty on the paint: Optimum roof attic ventilator is made of 26 gauge galvanized steel and covered with a baked polyester paint. Optimum ventilation is proud to offer a 5 year warranty against corrosion. During this period, Ventilation Optimum, will replace the product at the counter upon presentation of the original proof of purchase. Conditions: Responsibility for Optimum Ventilation under this warranty is limited solely to replacement of parts in our plan. All costs related to time travel as well as home repairs are not covered by this warranty. The corrosion not caused by a defect in material or by manufacturer is not covered by this warranty. Will be considered circumstances beyond the control of Optimum Ventilation: corrosion caused by industrial fallout, acid rain, accidents, damage, negligence or modification of the product and corrosion resulting from improper installation or steel spoiling a previously scratched paint. The waterproofing of the roof or parts that are assembled by the contractor during the final installation is not guaranteed because it is beyond the control of the manufacturer. The contractor has the responsibility to ensure that the base is installed in a well sealed using products suitable roofs. Trace flashing s interior with a chalk, making sure to have the nail in the middle, flashing being parallel to roof crest and that the deflectors are at least 15 cm (6 ) above the crest. Cut drawing, remove nails that could bother ventilator s installation from the hole s top and sides. 15 cm (6 ) Flashing Gutter Apply Condor Plastic Cement beneath flashing flange. Slide flashing underneath top and side shingles and screw onto deck. Peel top and side shingles and glue them back to the flashing with Condor s Plastic Cement. Be careful not to put plastic cement on flashing s gutter, lower flange part. Fix metallic part of the flashing taking care for it to be leveled. Optimum ventilator deflectors have to exceed any nearby wall, parapet or chimney by 15 cm (6 inches). Keep a minimal distance of 1,25m (4 feet) between ventilator and any other obstacles. 15 cm (6 ) ½ ½ Installing position of one ventilator 15 cm (6 ) ¼ Apply Condor Plastic Cement around flashing to seal perfectly ventilator s base. ½ Place ventilator s head on its flashing. Fix the head making sure that it is level and that deflectors are at least 15 cm (6 ) above the roof crest. Put a screw in every pre-perforated hole. 15 cm (6 ) ¼ Installing position of two ventilators Ventilators must be installed centered near roof crest at about 20 cm (8 inches) so that deflectors exceed roof crest for at least 15cm (6 inches). Important Note: For cathedral type roof, communicate with Optimum for recommendations. For a metallic roof (steel sheets), install a ventilator 301 every 58 m ² (600 squares feets). INNOVATION: Our new base give opportunity to fix it on roof up to 18/12 sloped. PRE-REQUIRED: Soffits must be free from obstruction and/or from insulation. NOTES: No opening other than soffits and Optimum Ventilators are allowed. Openings such as gable louvers, small roof vent, etc, must absolutely be closed. No clothes drier, kitchen range hood or bathroom exhaust should be located into the attic or in soffits. All connecting pipes to roof exhaust trap must be covered with insulation and vapor membrane corresponding to building code norms. Any door of access to the attic or low wall must be provided with insulation and vapor membrane according to building code. 8 ROOF EXHAUST INSTALLATION HOW TO INSTALL A ROOF EXHAUST UNIT MODEL CT-4, CT-6 & CT-10 1,5 m (5 ) Place the unit at a minimum of 1.5m (5 feet) from roof edge. Check in the attic to determine rafters locations. Center and mark with a chalk the hole to cut. Cutaway the shingles and cut through the Insert a flexible duck pipe onto the roof exhaust collar and fix deck using a jigsaw. Carefully remove all it with a duct tape. roofing nails within 30 cm (12 inches) from the hole to ease the installation. Flashing Gutter Fold a polythene (vapor barrier) insulation over the pipe and push it to the bottom of the unit to ensure it covers the entire crown. Finish by fixing it with duct tape. This part will be the gutter. Shingles left under the gutter, will be coated with plastic cement to properly bond it and prevent any infiltration. Apply a bead of plastic cement in the appropriate color on the exterior joints. See chart of colour in store. Lift the shingles on each side of the opening. Apply a layer of plastic cement of about 10 cm wide on all sides. Slide the hose into the roof opening ending with the roof exhaust. Make sure the flashing is stuck in the plastic cement to prevent seepage. Screw the unit on the roof. Put a layer of plastic cement on the top side and on each side of the flashing. NOTES: No clothes drier, kitchen range hood or bathroom exhaust should be located into the attic or in soffits. All connecting pipes to roof exhaust trap, any door of access to the attic or low wall must be covered with insulation and vapor membrane corresponding to building code norms.
