The oldest method for solving this problem consists in creating air chambers that separate the living area from the soil, whether walls or floors. The air gap is a formwork structure Why do people check the carrying capacity of the structure prior to subjecting slabs to significant load? And why is this not common practice for air gaps?... Unfortunately, no one considers air gaps to be load-bearing structures, so they are not paid the right attention. Actually, air gaps are a structure for all intents and purposes, and the following must be ensured during their design: resistance to concentrated loads; resistance to distributed loads; resistance to the subsoil; walkability during installation; stability in time. The structure built using guttadrytek 2.0 is perfectly balanced for all internal elements. 3 Tests carried out at the Pietro Pisa Material Testing Laboratory of the Faculty of Engineering of Brescia For the purpose of characterizing the behaviour of ventilated slabs made with con guttadrytek 2.0 in terms of bending and punching, Gutta Italia S.r.l. conducted a series of experimental tests at the Faculty of Engineering of Brescia. In addition to testing the air gap samples for bending and punching, Gutta Italia S.r.l. wanted to verify whether or not the electrowelded net and/or the presence of steel fibres contribute, and if they do so to what extent, to improving structural behaviour in terms of carrying capacity (ultimate load) and in terms of cracking control. The a- forementioned checks have made it possible to develop a finite element model capable of simulating the behaviour of said ventilated floors, with or without the electrowelded net, for different load conditions, different thickness of the concrete layer and different types of concrete, including the kind reinforced with fibres. Thanks to the-se studies, the tables shown here at the side have been prepared and can be used to size and design the load bearing struc-ture of the floor (available at the company for distribution). The purpose of these ta-bles is to become familiar with and thus adopt the guttadrytek 2.0 ventilated air gap configuration best suited to support a specific design load. 4 LAYING INSTRUCTIONS The proper laying of an air gap using guttadrytek 2.0 and the subsequent finishing cast must be carried out according to the following steps: levelling the foundation by adding filling materials, if necessary, to make it even; laying the guttabeta Star sheet (dimpled sheets, used to facilitate the levelling of the foundation cement and to prevent it from percolating into the soil); casting a layer of lean concrete at least 10 cm thick as support for the elements; preparing the slab extrados in order to lay any technical installations, drainage pipes, etc. laying guttadrytek 2.0, following the installation methods printed on the formwork itself, being careful to formwork the headers using gutta gettostop. To ensure greater solidity of the structure, it is recommended to build the air gap at the same time as the foundation beams or as the trims that integrate the foundations of existing walls in case of renovations if requested, lay the electrowelded net, which should be sized by the design engineer who designed the structures. Carry out the casting in the required thickness with relation to the structural commitment of the air gap. Electricity represents about 35% of the material processing cost, to go from waste to secondary raw materials. During the course of this past year, the costs paid by companies have literally skyrocketed, notwithstanding the much acclaied support to companies operating in the so-called green economy, and which economy can be defined greener than one that, starting from waste, is able to produce a new resource capable of replacing other raw materials with high environmental impact and made from non-renewable sources? In recent years, the cost of electricity has increased so much as to become, for some companies, a cost item that exceeds even their personnel costs. The constant search for innovative materials and solutions conducted by Gutta Italia S.r.l. has led to the pro- cessing and conversion of a plastic material, using post-industrial waste of heterogeneous materials that would otherwise be difficult to recycle, designing an innovative production line that uses only 0.34 kwh for every kg of converted material, approximately 61% less than what it's normally used for the recycling of plastic ma-terials. The excellent results obtained du-ring the production (following the sampling of over 200 tons of raw materials, including certain solutions of a technical nature tied to the inherent differences between the use of granules and the use of densified materials), allow us to state that the aggregate rightfully belongs to the category of low-cost materials that can be used for injection moulding.
